LCU Set For Sunday Rubber Game

Chaps Looking for Series Win

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (5-9, 4-7 LSC) vs.
TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL (5-11, 5-11 LSC)
Sunday, March 14 – 1 p.m.
Jorge Haynes Field – Laredo, Texas

LEADING OFF
After a late-inning comeback by Texas A&M International that saw them come away winners on Saturday, the Chaparrals and Dustdevils will meet in a deciding game three at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both teams are looking for their second series win of the season, with LCU also having beaten Arkansas Fort Smith two games to one to start conference play. If game three is anything like the first two, it'll be an offensive showdown, with the teams combining for 32 runs so far.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – Tyler Hardwick will get the nod for the Chaparrals, as the right-hander takes the mound for the third time this year. Hardwick has been on the mound for 6.1 innings so far this year, allowing 11 earned runs on 13 hits in that time with six strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .406 against the transfer from New Mexico Military Institute so far this season. He has gotten six outs on the ground, six through the air and six via the swing-and-miss.

TAMIU – Abanny Garcia is the likely candidate to start the game for the Dustdevils, bringing a 3.60 earned run average in 25.0 innings of work into the game. He is 1-1 on the year, having allowed just 10 earned runs on 26 hits in his time on the mound. He leads TAMIU in strikeouts with 27 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .265 against him. In his last outing (3/5) he was on the mound for 7.0 innings of work against St. Mary's, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
