Chaps Get Bounce-Back Chance Against Rams

LCU Looking to End Four-Game Skid

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (3-7, 2-45LSC) vs.
NO. 1 ANGELO STATE (10-1, 6-1 LSC)
Saturday, March 6 – 2 p.m.
Hays Field – Lubbock, Texas

LEADING OFF
It's a battle of opposing streaks on Saturday, as the Chaparrals enter the game with four straight losses and the Rams enter the game with eight straight wins. Lubbock Christian will try and right the ship by avoiding the costly errors of Friday night's 9-4 loss, but it'll take a complete team performance to take down the current No. 1 team in all of NCAA Division II.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – Right-hander Shandon Herrera will get the ball for game two, making his third appearance and start of the season. Herrera is 1-0 on the year so far, with a no-decision in his most recent start against St. Mary's. He has a 4.09 ERA in 11.0 innings of work. He has allowed five runs, all of them earned, on 11 hits. His control has been good this season though, with only one walk to nine strikeouts. He is more commonly a fly ball pitcher, getting 17 flyouts to just seven groundouts this year.

ASU – A 6-6 lefty out of Chico, California, Benjamin Elder will likely take the mound to start the game for the Rams. A transfer from Butte College, where he twice earned Golden Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, Elder has a miniscule ERA of .40 and a 2-0 record this year in 22.1 innings of work. The only earned run he has allowed came in his first start of the year against UT Tyler. He has allowed 14 hits, but walked just three batters while striking out 14.
