LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (3-8, 2-6 LSC)Â vs.
NO. 1 ANGELO STATE (11-1, 7-1 LSC)
Sunday, March 7 – 1 p.m.
Hays Field – Lubbock, Texas
Â
LEADING OFF
The hits have been there for Lubbock Christian University, just not the RBIs, leading to them dropping the first two games and the overall series against No. 1-ranked Angelo State University. The Chaps get one more chance for the upset today, though, facing the Rams at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Hays Field as they look to salvage a win in the series and end their five-game losing streak.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP
LCU – The lanky lefty
Armando Valle will get the ball for the Chaparrals on Sunday, coming off the longest outing of his career (6.2 IP) his last time out against St. Mary's. He allowed just two earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out six against the Rattlers. The start against Angelo State will be his fourth of the season. The Puerto Rico native has an ERA of 5.28 in 14 innings of work so far this year. He has allowed only eight hits but been hurt more by the walk, which he has allowed 10 of. Valle does average more than a strikeout per inning though, and righties have struggled mightily against him, hitting just .132 (5-38).
Â
ASU – Jesse Meyer looks to be the likely candidate to start for Angelo State, having gotten the nod in three games already this season. Meyer, a Las Vegas native, has an ERA of 2.57 in 14 innings on the mound. The right-hander has allowed 14 hits in that time but walked just two batters while striking out 11. In his last outing against St. Mary's, he went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
