How It Happened
Set One:
Trialing 4-2, UAFS went on a 7-1 run for a 9-5 lead, as LCU was called for a trio of ball handling errors during the Lions run. LCU entered with one through their opening eight matches of the season. UAFS led 14-10 before an ace from Froeschl opened an 8-1 LCU run, which featured a pair of kills from
Aaliyah Gray. A solo block and kill by Froeschl helped lead LCU to a 3-0 run for a 23-19 lead before claiming the set 25-21. Froeschl had five kills on seven attempts in the set
Set Two:
LCU ran away with the second set, opening the frame with a 7-1 run behind four UAFS errors. The Lady Chaps later used another 7-1 run, and scored the final seven points, to run away with a 25-9 set win. LCU produced a .500 attack percentage in the set, with
Jenna Lyons leading LCU in the frame with three kills on four attempts.
Zoe Parker had two aces in the set as well.
Set Three:
LCU was unable to do anything with a 5-0 run early in the set, as a 5-1 UAFS strike tied the set at 11-11. Parker registered a kill to give LCU the lead for good. LCU went on a 9-2 scoring surge, which included a 7-0 run, taking a 21-13 lead. An ace by Jazzlyn Wells capped a 4-0 stretch for UAFS, but the Lions were unable to get any closer than the 21-17 deficit. LCU won the set 25-20 behind four kills each from Lyons,
Sage Chain and Gray (supplied by a 10-assist performance in the set by Sims). Faith Marabella had five kills in the set to lead UAFS.
