KONE YOU DIG IT?
After recording two shutouts in her first two matches, Abby Kone was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the Lone Star Conference on Monday, Aug. 29.
It was the first time a Lady Chap has been named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week since Oct. 4, 2021, when
Hannah Wise earned the honor. It is also the first time an LCU has earned a weekly conference honor after their first week of the season since Sarah Palmer won the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week award as a freshman goalkeeper for week one of the 2015 season.
Kone became the first LCU keeper to record 10 saves in a match since 2018, with 13 saves against Colorado Mesa, the second most in a match in program history.

IT'S HOW YOU FINISH
Like last season, the Lady Chaps were undefeated after their first eight matches at 4-0-4. Also like last season, the Lady Chaps eighth match was a positive result against a ranked DBU, beating the no. 12 Patriots 1-0 in 2021, and tying the no. 1 Pats 1-1 this season. Last season, LCU was 6-0-2 after eight matches, but finished the season just 2-7 and missed the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The 6-0-5 start was the best for the Lady Chaps since starting the 2012 season 12-0. LCU fizzled out at the end of that season, going 0-5-2 in their final seven matches
SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
- Angelo State enters the match with a 10-2-1 overall record and 5-2 in the Lone Star Conference. The Rambelles dropped a 1-0 decision to no. 16 West Texas A&M in their last match on Oct. 5.
- The Rambelles fell out of the United Soccer Coaches National Poll from 22nd after falling to the Lady Buffs. ASU is still receiving votes in the national poll.

- Valerie Solis is tied for second in the conference with four assists this season.
- In 14 seasons as the head soccer coach at ASU, Travis McCorkle has led the Belles to four Lone Star Conference Championships, thirteen 10-plus win seasons, and five NCAA postseason appearances. He directed the program to its fourth Lone Star Conference Championship in 2020. The Belles hosted the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament for the first time in program history in 2015 after winning their first NCAA Tournament game in 2014.
THE SERIES WITH THE RAMBELLES
Angelo State leads the series 4-0-1 but the one draw was in the 2019 Lone Star Conference Tournament. The match was scoreless after 110 minutes, and the Lady Chaps took the penalty kick shootout 5-4 after a make from
Arely Jimenez to advance to the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. ASU has won the last two matches 1-0, and have held the Lady Chaps without a goal in 2:15:25 of game action.
A WIN WOULD
- Be the 100th win of
Alex Denning's career at LCU
- Be the program's first win ever over Angelo State
