Highlights
A 50-28 kill advantage allowed Texas A&M-Kingsville to complete a straight set shutout win (3-0) over Lubbock Christian Friday night in Lone Star Conference action in Kingsville, Texas. Ayana Jackson and Meghan Stiefer each had 12 kills and Jackie Alanis added 10 kills to provide a balance for the Javelinas. Alanis added 11 digs to complete a double-double. LCU received a team-leading six kills from Lily Bickley.

How It Happened

Set One:
LCU never led in the opening set despite tying the score four times. Sage Chain capped a 4-0 run to help LCU tie the set at 9-9 before TAMUK responded with a 4-1 run to take a 13-10 lead. On three occasions, LCU cut their deficit to a one-point margin. LCU trailed 22-21, but TAMUK responded with four straight points to win the set 25-21. Meagan Stiefer fueled the Javelinas in the set with nine of their 16 kills, as they had a 16-8 kill advantage in the opening set. Kiana Fallaha and Aaliyah Gray co-led LCU with two kills each.   

Set Two:
It was TAMUK shining early, as a pair of aces during a 6-1 run put the Javelinas up 9-3. Sage Chain had a kill and a block to cut the deficit to 9-7. Ayanna Jackson had six kills in the set for TAMUK, with one resulting in the first point of a 10-3 Javelinas scoring surge to take a 21-12 lead. Lily Bickley had one kill in the set and it opened a 6-3 LCU run, but it was "too little too late" as TAMUK won the set 25-18. LCU, dealt with a 16-7 disadvantage in the kills, received two kills by Chain in the set.

Set Three:
TAMUK jumped out with another hot start to their set in the third set, utilizing a pair of aces and kills from Jackson to lead 9-2. LCU's Payton Murray entered the contest in the third set and had back-to-back kills during an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 12-10. LCU trailed 16-14 and 19-16, but Jackson added two more kills to help the Javelinas claim the set 25-20. Both squads were offensively on-point in the set, as TAMUK produced a .615 attack percentage and LCU had a .478 attack percentage. TAMUK, with 18 kills, was led in the frame by five assists from Jackson. Madelyn Wallace and Alanis each added four kills. Bickley and Murray co-led LCU with four kills (LCU had 13 kills in the set).

Inside the Numbers:
1-6 LCU was unable to win a second consecutive road game and fall to 1-6 on the road this season.  
5-6 Lubbock Christian has played in 10 matches decided in straight sets and they are 5-6 in those contests.
35 While LCU had their second-lowest dig total of the season, TAMUK had 35 digs, which is the lowest total by an LCU opponent since Oklahoma Panhandle State had 32 on Oct. 26, 2013.
62 The two teams combined for 62 digs. The fewest combined total in an LCU match since LCU and Rockhurst combined for 62 on Aug. 24, 2018.
10 The meeting was the 10th all-time meeting between the two programs and the win by TAMUK put the series tied at 5-5. LCU fell to 0-2 all-time in Kingsville.
