How It Happened
Set One:
It was all WT in the opening set, as they produced a .394 attacking percentage and had a 16-7 advantage in kills.
Chloe Menard served an ace to cut an early LCU deficit to 4-3, but the Lady Buffs followed with a 12-4 scoring advantage for a 16-7 lead en route to a 25-13 set win. Abi Nash posted seven kills in the opening frame for Lady Buffs, who had a 6-0 advantage in blocks in the set (Taytum Stow and Kayla Elliott each had two blocks).
Set Two:
Consecutive serving aces by Elliott capped a 4-2 run to open the second set. WT used a 3-0 and 4-0 to help build the lead as big as 14-6. A kill and a block on consecutive points by LCU's
Aaliyah Gray helped spark a charge, as LCU was able to cut the deficit to 18-12. LCU had a six-point deficit on three occasions before WT closed the set on a 5-0 run highlighted by a pair of kills from Elliott, who had five kills in the set and combined for nine for WT with Samantha Jordan (4). Set Three:
An 8-0 Lady Buffs run early in the set had WT leading 10-2, but LCU used a 5-1 spark to cut the deficit to 13-8. WT pulled away from a 16-11 lead with an 8-3 scoring surge to lead 24-14. They claimed the match with a 25-16 set win. Stow, Nash and Jordan each had three kills to co-lead WT, while LCU's Fallaha and
Payton Murray each had three kills as well to lead LCU in the set.
