Arely Jimenez became the eighth LCU Lady Chap all-time to record at least 5,000 minutes of playing time against Texas A&M International. Jimenez passed
Allison Scott for most matches played of any Lady Chap on Wednesday, Oct. 19, as she has played in 78 matches in her LCU career.
Kenley Blevins and Abby Kone have both played all 90 minutes in every single match this season. Blevins has not left the pitch since 18th minute against St. Mary's on Nov. 6, 2021.
DISHING IT OUT
The Lady Chaps have been sharing the ball at will this season, with twelve players recording at least one assist. Hoel and Jimenez lead the team with four
assists each.
Hannah Irons and
Avery Jennings are second on the team with three apiece. The Lady Chaps rank second in the LSC with 26 assists this season and are averaging 1.733 assists per game.
RA RA RASMUSSEN
Graycen Rasmussen has been one of the standout freshmen for the Lady Chaps this season, scoring five goals and tallying two assists so far ths year. Rasmussen picked up five points in two matches earlier this season, tallying an assist and a goal against Oklahoma Christian. Her penalty kick goal against Texas A&M International was enough for the Lady Chaps to knock off the Dust Devils 1-0. Rasmussen ranks second in the LSC in shots with 48. Rasmussen recorded a career-high eight shot attempts against Texas Woman's on Oct. 15.
KONE YOU DIG IT
After recording two shutouts in her first two matches, Abby Kone was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the Lone Star Conference on Monday, Aug. 29. It was the first time a Lady Chap has been named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week since Oct. 4, 2021, when
Hannah Wise earned the honor. It is also the first time an LCU has earned a weekly conference honor after their first week of the season since Sarah Palmer won the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week award as a freshman goalkeeper for week one of the 2015 season. Kone became the first LCU keeper to record 10 saves in a match since 2018, with 13 saves against Colorado Mesa, the second most in a match in program history. Kone now sits fourth all time in shutouts already in her career with six. Her 56 saves already rank as the sixth most in program history and seventh most of any LCU keeper in one season.
WELCOME BACK LEXI
Lexi De La Cruz is a sophomore transfer from Howard Payne University. De La Cruz was the American Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year in 2021, leading the conference in points (34), assists (8) and goals (8). The Lubbock native was also named Third-Team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches Association. De La Cruz did not waste long in her return to Lubbock, scoring a pair of goals and recording an assist in LCU's 3-0 shutout of Western Colorado in their first match of the season. She currently ranks fifth in the Lone Star Conference in points (18) third in goals (8), second in shots on goal (26) and eighth in total shots (42).
SHUT IT DOWN
Since the program's inception in 2010, the Lady Chaps have recorded at least four shutouts in every single season. LCU picked up their sixth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Midwestern State, moving to 4-0-2 in shutouts this year. The Lady Chaps hold a 75-0-6 record in shutouts all-time
PRESEASON PICKINGS
The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the 2022 Lone Star Conference preseason poll.
Celia Duarte,
Madison Mayben and
Megan Mirabal were named players to watch by the conference for the 2022 season.
- Duarte played in 11 matches last season for the Lady Chaps, scoring a pair of goals and tallying one assist. Her goal against Texas A&M International on Sept. 25 was the game winner over the Dust Devils and gave LCU their first conference win of the season.
- Mayben played in and started 15 matches for the Lady Chaps last season. Mayben was a key part of the Lubbock Christian defense that recorded six shutouts, including four in their first eight matches on the way to a 6-0-2 start.
- Mirabal started five games in net for LCU last season, finishing the year with a 3-1-1 record. Mirabal earned the win for the Lady Chaps in her first three matches, allowing two goals and recording 11 total saves. She earned her lone shutout of the season against Adams State on Sept. 9, tallying six saves on the way to the 3-0 victory.
THIS IS HOME
In their second year at the new LCU soccer and track & field complex, the Lady Chaps went 4-4-1 at home, opening the season with a 4-1 thrashing of New Mexico Highlands. LCU is now 60-27-17 in home games all-time, and 10-5-6 all-time at the LCU soccer and track & field complex. Lubbock Christian has never had a losing record at home under head coach

IT'S HOW YOU FINISH
Like last season, the Lady Chaps were undefeated after their first eight matches at 4-0-4. Also like last season, the Lady Chaps eighth match was a positive result against a ranked DBU, beating the no. 12 Patriots 1-0 in 2021, and tying the no. 1 Pats 1-1 this season. Last season, LCU was 6-0-2 after eight matches, but finished the season just 2-7 and missed the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The 6-0-5 start was the best for the Lady Chaps since starting the 2012 season 12-0. LCU fizzled out at the
end of that season, going 0-5-2 in their final seven matches
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
- St. Edward's is 8-3-4 this season, and is 4-2-3 in the LSC. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 4-4 draw against UT Tyler on Wednesday, a match SEU led by as much as 3-1 in the 53rd minute and 4-2 in the 63rd minute. SEU is 0-2-3 in their last five matches.
- Katie Gay is third in the LSC with 24 shots on goal this season. Gay is fifth in the conference in shot attempts with 43, and tied for ninth with her teammate Tristyn Cabello for goals with five.
- Cabello is ninth in the conference with 12 points this season. She also has 16 shots on goal.
- MaryAnne Crowe leads SEU and is tied for fifth in the conference with four assists this season.
- Nick Cowell came to St. Edward's in 2006 as the fourth head coach of the SEU women's soccer team. He is now entering his 16th season with the Hilltoppers as the all-time winningest coach in school history. Cowell was inducted into the Heartland Conference Hall of Fame in 2019. Cowell is the winningest coach in NCAA Division II history among active coaches with 432 total wins and is third all-time. He ranks 13th all-time across all divisions of the NCAA, second all-time in NCAA Division II, and seventh all-time in NCAA Division III. Cowell ranks in the top 50 for winningest coaches of all-time as determined by winning percentage, across all divisions, 15th all-time in NCAA Division II and 25th all-time in NCAA Division III. The England native is 11th among active NCAA Division II coaches in total wins and winning percentage.
THE SERIES WITH THE HILLTOPPERS
SEU leads the all-time series against the Lady Chaps 13-1-2. LCU's lone win came in the 2021 spring season, a 2-0 victory in Lubbock. LCU is 0-6-1 all-time in Austin against SEU, being outscored 16-3 all-time in the capital city.
