Highlights
For the second time in a three-match stretch, Lubbock Christian University had to win a fifth set to keep a road team for stealing a win from inside Rip Griffin Center, as LCU held onto a 2-0 match lead with a 3-2 match win over Texas Woman's Wednesday night in Lone Star Conference play. The match was LCU's Play for the Cure "Pink Night," as the LCU SAAC raised money during the game for Susan G. Komen. For the first time this season, LCU had multiple double-double performers, as Kayton Genenbacher had 39 assists and 21 digs and Aaliyah Gray had 16 digs and 12 kills. LCU was led in kills by Kiana Fallaha, who had 14 kills and a .265 attack percentage. TWU, with a 69-58 advantage in kills, was led by Luna van Baars and Myracle Stockman, who each had 13 kills. They also received 12 kills from Trixie Oche, who completed a double-double with 11 blocks. Kiana Reed also had a double-double for TWU with 27 assists and 14 digs.

How It Happened

Set One:
Trailing 23-20, after a 5-1 TWU run, LCU stormed back with a kill by Aaliyah Gray starting a 4-0 run to take a 24-23 lead. A kill by TWU's Sarah Lindley broke serve, but LCU responded with kills from Lily Bickley and Kiana Fallaha to win the set 26-24. The set was back-and-forth with a trio of lead changes and the score tied on seven occasions (TWU was able to rally from a 10-5 deficit in the set). Tori Woods led all players with six kills in the set. The Lady Chaps were led by four kills from Kaitlyn Mayo.

Set Two:
LCU used a pair of rallies to claim the second set. A 7-0 run, which was part of a 9-2 scoring surge for TWU, put the Pioneers up 14-8 in the set. LCU received a block combined from Sage Chain and Kayton Genenbacher to start one of LCU's big scoring runs in the frame. A 10-2 run, fueled by seven errors by the Pioneers, helped LCU take an 18-16 lead. Luna van Baars had a pair of kills to regain the lead for TWU, as a 4-0 run put TWU up 20-18. A serving error opened the comeback door for LCU, as LCU countered the error with a 5-1 run for a 23-21 lead. Three of the five points in the run were off kills by Fallaha. LCU claimed the set 25-22. Fallaha led all players with six kills in the set. TWU was held to a .083 attack percentage in the set.

Set Three:
Neither team had a lead with a margin more than three points in the set, as there were nine lead changes in the set. LCU led 22-21 until a kill by Trixie Oche sparked a 3-0 run to give the Pioneers a.24-22 advantage. Van Baars ended the set with a kill to give TWU a 25-23 set win and it forced a fourth set. Myracle Stockman had five kills for TWU, who had 18 kills in the set. Chain led LCU with four kills in the set.

Set Four:
The Pioneers rode the momentum from the prior frame into the set, as five LCU errors allowed the Pioneers open the set with an 8-2 lead. A kill by Gray highlighted a 3-1 LCU run to cut the deficit to 10-6, but TWU responded with a 6-1 run, capped by a pair of kills from Oche for a 16-7 lead. TWU used a .500 attack percentage to win the set 25-13. Oche led the way with five kills in the set. LCU, with a -.042 attack percentage in the set, had seven kills in the set and three were by Gray.

Set Five:
TWU had the early edge, leading 4-2, before Gray produced a kill to spark a 5-0 LCU run for a 7-4 Lady Chaps lead. LCU extended a 9-8 lead with a 3-0 run to go up 12-8, which forced TWU to use a timeout. Clayre Pullin produced a kill to put TWU within two (13-11), but kills by Fallaha and Kalli Dalland clinched the set 15-12 to claim the match 3-2. Fallaha and Gray each had three kills in the set for LCU.
