Highlights
A match that had the score tied on 27 occasions and 11 lead changes was decided in straight sets, as Lubbock Christian University collected their first road win of the season with a straight-set (3-0) victory over Texas Permian Basin Saturday afternoon inside Falcon Dome. LCU took advantage of 29 UTPB attack errors and received 13 kills from Kiana Fallaha. Aaliyah Gray produced a double-double for the Lady Chaps with 11 digs and 10 kills. UTPB was unable to claim any sets despite 42-40 advantage in kills and 16 kills from Aquincia Strambler, who also added 12 digs to complete a double-double.

How It Happened

Set One:
A pair of Lily Bickley kills helped LCU jump out to a 7-4 advantage, but UTPB responded with a 4-0 run for the first of six lead changes in the set. A 6-1 UTPB surge gave the Falcons a 14-11 lead. The Falcons had 11 attack errors in the set and a trio of them fueled a 6-2 LCU run, as the Lady Chaps took a 17-16 lead. Trailing 21-19, LCU took advantage of three more attack errors and went on a 4-0 run, which was part of a 6-2 run to close the set for a 25-23 LCU set win. LCU claimed the set despite a 16-11 UTPB advantage in kills, with Aquincia Strambler leading the way with six. Kiana Fallaha led LCU with four kills.

Set Two:
Another tightly contested set, neither team had a lead more than a two-point margin until LCU received a kill by Bickley to begin a 4-0 run for a 19-15 lead. The 4-0 run was part of an 8-1 scoring surge, which included a trio of kills from Fallaha for a 23-16 lead. UTPB rallied with a pair of aces from Strambler leading to 5-1 run, which cut LCU's lead to 24-21. LCU called a timeout and responded with a set-clinching kill from Aaliyah Gray for a 25-21 set win.  LCU had a .281 to .081 advantage in attack percentage in the frame. Fallaha and Gray each had four kills in the set to lead LCU.

Set Three:
Early in the set, LCU never led, trailing as much as 13-7 (after a 7-1 UTPB run), until a combo block from Kayton Genenbacher and Sage Chain ignited a 7-0 run (included a trio of blocks from Chain) for a 14-13 LCU lead. UTPB bounced back, as LCU had three consecutive attack errors, with a 5-1 run for an 18-15 UTPB lead. LCU would close out the set outscoring UTPB 10-4 to win the set 25-22 to claim the match 3-0. Kendall Mahaney had nine digs in the set. Fallaha (5) and Gray (4) combined for nine kills for LCU, as Strambler led UTPB with six kills.

Inside the Numbers:
1-5 LCU garnered their first road win of the season. The win Saturday places them with a 1-5 road record. UTPB entered the match 6-1 at home this season.
5-5 Lubbock Christian has played in 10 matches decided in straight sets and they are 5-5 in those contests.
3 Aaliyah Gray recorded her third double-double of the season and fifth of her career, as she posted 11 digs and 10 kills. She also matched a career high with four blocks.
48 Gray also set a career high with 48 attacks. The total is the highest in a three-set match by a Lady Chaps member since Hannah Thomas had 48 attacks (attempts) against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sept. 12, 2019.
