LCU Wins First Road Game, Topping Streaky Outside-Shooting Bulldogs

Grace Foster's Career-High Rebounding and Whitney Cox's Career-High Scoring Night Carry LCU To Third Straight Win

WEATHERFORD, Okla. (November 21, 2022) – Southwestern Oklahoma State University opened 8-of-13 from three-point range, and nine three-pointers in the opening half helped the Bulldogs to an 11-point lead, but the hot outside shooting would fizzle. The Bulldogs missed their final 10 three-point attempts, while No.18 Lubbock Christian University rallied behind 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds from Grace Foster to help the Lady Chaps dampen the Bulldogs home opener with a 73-67 victory Monday night inside Pioneer Cellular Event Center.

The Bulldogs produced 17 field goals in the opening half and nine were from long distance. Six of the three-pointers were made by Adysen Wilson, who posted all of her career-high 18 points in the opening half. While going 3-of-11 inside the arc in the first quarter, SWOSU was 4-of-8 beyond the arc, including Wilson's second trey of the game to give SWOSU an 18-14 lead at the close of the first quarter.

She continued where she left off in the start of the second quarter, nailing consecutive three-pointers for a 24-16 Bulldogs lead. Wilson was 4-of-5 in the quarter from three-point range, completing consecutive three-pointers for a second time in the quarter to build the Bulldogs lead to its largest (32-21 with 6:37 remaining in the half). LCU responded with a 6-0 run, with Resse Schuman scoring the last two buckets of the run to cut the deficit to 32-27 with 4:23 left in the quarter. Averi Zinn had six points in the second quarter, popping in a pair of baskets inside the final minute of the quarter to build the SWOSU lead to 43-34, but Foster capitalized with a layup to put the halftime score at 43-36.

SWOSU was 9-of-18 (50%) from three-point range in the half, with Wilson shooting 75% (6-of-8) from the perimeter. Wilson (18 points) and Morgan Smith (12 points) combined for 30 points in the first half. They also had a 15-2 advantage in second-chance scoring.
