LCU matched the three runs in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs, Brooke Makemson reached on a single and Lee and Herrera followed with back-to-back home runs for a 5-3 advantage.

RSU's Jaylan Gibson connected with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning, but LCU matched it in the bottom of the inning with a two-run bases-loaded single from Lee, which walked the game off due to the run rule.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Maxine Valdez improved to 6-1 on the season. She went 4.2 innings and allowed five runs off five hits, while striking out four batters. Mattye Tyler faced one batter in the fifth and struck out the batter.

The last win via the run-rule against a nationally ranked program was Mar. 13, 2013 against No.6 Oklahoma City, which was when LCU was a NAIA member, marking this win as their first run-rule win over a nationally ranked program since joining the NCAA.
  • Kasey Flores had a triple in the second inning and it was the first career triple for Flores, who spent the prior three seasons playing at UTEP.
  • Brooke Makemson's two-run blast was her third home run of the season and her 13th of her LCU career.
  • Lee has been part of all three of LCU's back-to-back home run scenarios this season, as she has joined Skylar Herrera for two of the back-to-back home run connections this season.
  • Herrera leads LCU with five home runs on the season. Her solo blast Sunday was her 17th of her LCU career.
