SILVER CITY, N.M. (March 18, 2022) – No.14 Lubbock Christian University tallied 24 runs Friday, as the Lady Chaps hit .411 as a team and swept Western New Mexico 14-0 (in five innings) and 10-4 in Lone Star Conference action at Mustang Field.

How it Happened:
Brooke Makemson opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a two-run home run. The Lady Chaps added a run in the second inning, off a single by
Athena Muniz, and then posted a four-run third inning. Skyler Herrera followed a sacrifice fly by
Kasey Flores with a three-run home run for a 7-0 lead.
LCU doubled the lead with a seven-run fourth inning.
Tiarra Delrosario hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run of the inning. The next seven batters reached base safely, with RBI singles from Makemson, Muniz and a RBI-double from
Angela Donaldson highlighting the seven-run inning.
In the fifth inning, LCU quickly wrapped up the game with five consecutive extra-base hits. Wysocki tripled before
Tiarra Delrosario and Makemson each doubles, and
Tyla Lee and
Kasey Flores hit back-to-back home runs to end the game.

- Taylor Franco's complete game shutout marked her 41st career complete game (seventh of the season) and she claimed her 19th career shutout (fifth of the season). She is one shutout away from passing Alyssa Gutierrez (2009-10) and Katera Eltsosie (2014-17), who each had 19 career shutouts in program history. Franco's 19 career shutouts is tied for eighth among active NCAA Division II pitchers.
- Franco's one-hitter is her second consecutive one-hitter, which has her at 12-1 on the season. She retired the final 13 consecutive batters faced and forced eight groundouts and one fly-out.
- Brooke Makemson homered for the fifth time this season and the 15th time of her LCU career.
- LCU was 8-for-11 with runners in scoring position, with Brooke Makemson and Athena Muniz each going 2-for-2 in the scenario.

Taylor Franco appeared in the circle in a relief appearance and got LCU out of the jam and allowed one hit over the final 2.1 innings (she received the save).
How it Happened:
A trio of walks in the top of the first inning set up a sacrifice fly by
Kasey Flores for a 1-0 lead. LCU would trail in the bottom half of the inning after a two-run home run by Bryana Munoz.
Athena Muniz tied the game in the second inning with a solo home run. They followed with a three-run fourth inning for a 5-2 advantage.
Kamryn Gibbs drove in the first run of the three-run inning, followed by a two-run single to left field by
Savannah Wysocki.
The streak of LCU runs ended in the bottom of the fourth inning, as WNMU's Breeanna Simmons hit a solo home run.
Skylar Herrera hit her second home run of the day in the fifth inning, as she hit a two-run homer to put LCU up 7-3. WNMU received an RBI from Munoz in the bottom half of the inning and had two runners on and the tying run at the plate, but LCU escaped the jam with
Taylor Franco coming in for a save situation and forcing a ground out. Muniz and Wysocki provided LCU some insurance with each registering an RBI in the seventh inning.
