Game 1

LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, LCU second baseman Skylar Herrera made a diving stop and completed a 4-3-putout on Ashlynn Bradley, which preserved the no-hitter.

How it Happened:
LCU opened the scoring early and in the first inning, LCU posted a four-run inning. Tiarra Delrosario doubled in Savannah Wysocki and Kasey Flores followed with a two-run single to highlight the offense in the inning. LCU followed with a three-run second inning, with a pair scoring on a two-run home run by Flores.

Brooke Makemson hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning, and LCU closed the game on a four-run fifth inning. Wysocki led off the fifth-inning scoring with a RBI-single before an eventual two-run double by Flores to complete the six-RBI performance.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Taylor Franco's complete game no-hit shutout marked her 42nd career complete game (eighth of the season) and she claimed her program-record 20th career shutout (sixth of the season). She passed Alyssa Gutierrez (2009-10) and Katera Eltsosie (2014-17) to become LCU's all-time career leader. Franco's 20 career shutouts is tied for eighth among active NCAA Division II pitchers.
  • Brooke Makemson homered for the sixth time this season and the 16th time of her LCU career.
  • Kasey Flores's two-run home run was her team-leading eighth of the season and her 31st career home run. She is 20th in active career home leaders in NCAA Division II.
  • Savannah Wysocki had a pair of hits, which places her with 288 career total bases, which moves her into ninth all-time in program history.
  • LCU was 8-for-18 with runners in scoring position, with Kasey Flores going 3-for-3 in the scenario. Her six RBI were a career high and the most since Skylar Herrera had six against Fort Lewis College on Feb. 20, 2021.
  • The shutout was LCU's sixth of the season (third no-hitter).
  • LCU improved to 19-0 this season when they hit at least one home run in a game.

No-Hitter Notes:
  • Taylor Franco no-hitter was the fourth of her career (LCU's all-time career leader in no-hitters).
  • The no-hitter was the 21st in LCU history.
  • It marked the second consecutive game in which LCU had no-hit UTPB, as Maxine Valdez no hit UTPB in their prior meeting (Mar. 21, 2021).
  • Of LCU's 21 no-hitters, Sunday's was the third all-time against UTPB by the Lady Chaps.

Game 2

LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
With two outs in the second inning, Skylar Herrera was facing an 0-2 count. She would eventually see seven more pitches in the nine-pitch at-bat which resulted in a base-loaded walk to snag an RBI and prolong the inning. Angela Donaldson, the ensuing batter, followed with a bases-loaded double to plate three runs.

How it Happened:
The game featured a lot of unconventional scoring and the scoring started in the first inning, with Skylar Herrera earning a one of two bases loaded walks she would record in the game. UTPB matched the run in the bottom of the first inning before LCU regained the lead with a six-run second inning.

Delrosario helped score the first run of the inning with an infield RBI-single. Tyla Lee (hit-by-pitch) and Herrera (nine-pitch walk) each reached with the bases loaded without putting a ball in play, before Angela Donaldson belted a three-run double for a 7-1 lead.

Delrosario had her second infield single result in an RBI in the third inning for an 8-1 lead. Following a run in the bottom of the third, the Lady Chaps opened the fourth inning with Herrera and Caroline Chilton getting hit by a pitch and scoring on a triple hit by Kamryn Gibbs. Delrosario collected her third RBI base hit of the game with a single down the line to score Wysocki later in the inning before the Lady Chaps closed their scoring in the four-run inning with Brooke Makemson hitting a sacrifice fly.

UTPB had a pair of singles to leadoff the bottom half of the fourth inning, which led to a run on a single hit by Valerie Gonzalez.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Mattye Tyler went 4.0 innings and allowed three runs in claiming the victory in the circle, which places her with a 5-0 record on the season.
  • LCU posted 10 stolen bases, which are the second-most in program history and the most since 11 on Feb. 16, 2013 against Friends.
  • Savannah Wysocki, who became the 10th Lady Chap in program history to appear in 150 games, had a career-high four stolen bases, which ties the program single-game record (tied her with Courtney Medina, who had four stolen bases on Feb. 12, 2017). Wysocki stole a combined seven stolen bases on the day.
  • Wysocki's stolen bases placed her with 81 career stolen bases and she became the program's career stolen base leader, passing McKinzie Clemmons, who had 78 from 2012-13.
  • LCU had batters get plunked five times, matching a program single-game record. They were last hit five times on Mar. 7, 2015 against Newman.
  • Brooke Makemson hit a sacrifice fly to take the team lead in the category with four. The team has 14 on the season.
  • Kamryn Gibbs became the seventh different Lady Chaps member to hit a triple this season. Her triple was the second of her career.
  • Tiarra Delrosario extended her streak of reaching base safely to 22 games, which actively leads LCU and is the longest by a Lady Chap this season.
  • Kamryn Gibbs' triple extended her hit streak to four games, which actively leads LCU.
  • LCU improved to 14-0 this season when scoring in the first inning. LCU has scored in the first inning in four consecutive games.
  • The Lady Chaps improved to 9-0 in road games this season.

HISTORICAL NOTE
LCU moved to 30-0 all-time against UTPB and 10-0 against UTPB in Odessa, Texas, as LCU was making their first trip to Odessa since 2017.
