TYLER, Texas (May 14, 2022) – No.1 University of Texas at Tyler pitchers Tatum Goff and Jacey Henry held No.16 No.4-seed Lubbock Christian University to a combined seven hits on the afternoon, while claiming a 3-1 and 9-2 win to eliminate the Lady Chaparrals in the regional finals of the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals Saturday afternoon at Suddenlink Field.

The bases were loaded for UTT in the third inning with two outs and a 1-2 count on the batter (Ashley Perez), as the ensuing pitch hit her to tie the game at 1-1. UTT pitcher Tatum Goff then hit a two-out two-run single to give UTT the lead.
How it Happened:
Friday, LCU opened the game against UT Tyler with a single from
Savannah Wysocki, which led to a run, and Saturday, Wysocki led off with a double down the right-field line. She would score on a sacrifice fly in foul territory in left field hit by
Brooke Makemson.
In the bottom of the third inning, an Amanda Marek one-out double was followed by a pair of walks to load the bases for UTT. LCU pitcher
Maxine Valdez responded with a strikeout, but a 1-2 (count) pitch to Ashley Perez hit her and scored the Patriots first run of the game. Kansas transfer Tatum Goff helped her own cause with a bloop to right field to score a pair of runs for a 3-1 lead.
LCU was unable to get more than one hit over the final four innings, as Goff retired the final eight batters she faced in order.

- Maxine Valdez suffered the loss in the circle for LCU (13-5) despite pitching her sixth complete game of the season. She went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs off six hits.
- Savannah Wysocki opened the game with a double. It marked her eighth hit of the tournament, but her first hit for extra bases.
- The Lady Chaps lost when scoring in the first inning for the first time this season (19-1). They had been 19-0 when scoring in the first inning.

An infield error in the fourth inning with the score tied 1-1 prolonged an inning in which the Patriots added on three more runs for a four-run inning.
How it Happened:
The game was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning.
Brooke Makemson hit a liner deep to the right-centerfield gap for a one-out double. She scored on a two-out double off the base of the left-centerfield wall hit by
Skylar Herrera.
Goff made her presence felt in the second game as well for UT Tyler, as she hit a double into the left field corner, allowing the tying run to score from first base to put the score at 1-1 in the bottom fourth inning. An error allowed the inning to continue, and UTT took advantage of it with a trio of runs capped by an Avery Farr two-run double for a 4-1 lead.
The Patriots added to the lead in the fifth inning with doubles by Courtney Plocheck and Ashley Perez leading to a 5-1 advantage. LCU responded in the sixth inning with a double by
Skylar Herrera leading to a
Kasey Flores RBI and it cut the deficit to 5-2.
UTT responded with insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth with four consecutive base hits leading to a four-run inning.
Inside the Numbers:
- Taylor Franco suffered her first career loss to UTT (2-1) and fell to 21-5 to complete the season.
- Savannah Wysocki went 1-for-4 in the game and completed the tournament 9-for-17 (.529). The nine hits stands as the highest hit total in NCAA postseason play in LCU program history, as it passes Sydney Beuthien, who had combined for eight hits over a span of two postseason appearances (2016, 2017).
- LCU had five hits in the game and all five were double, as LCU's five doubles were a single-game high for the season. Brooke Makemson had a pair of the doubles for her 17th multi-hit game of the season to match the team lead in the category (with Tyla Lee).
- The Lady Chaps fell to 31-3 on the season when scoring first overall.
- LCU closed the season 10-8 in contests in which they do not hit a home run.
- The Lady Chaps fell to 1-5 all-time in road contests against No.1 programs in program history.
