LCU's SAAC Claims Their First-Ever SAAC Cup Honor

DALLAS, Texas (July 25, 2022) – Dallas Baptist University hosted the 2022 Lone Star Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Retreat this past weekend, where the Lone Star Conference presented the 2022 SAAC Cup to Lubbock Christian University's SAAC as recipients of this season's winner.

The annual cup, which had been through a two-hiatus (due to COVID), is presented to the SAAC program with the most points at the end of the school term. Points are determined by a criteria involving community service projects, Make-A-Wish participation, involvement in LSC organized SAAC events and NCAA organized events. During the 2021-22 school term, LCU's SAAC group organized several fundraising projects, which included Soles4Souls Shoe Drive, Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive, LCU for LBK and the Olivia Needs a Ride project, which can be READ ABOUT HERE.

LCU's SAAC officers during the 2021-22 campaign included Ashton Duncan (president), Zach Stepp (vice president), Jeff Maciejewski (vice president of operations), Jalee Sims (secretary) and Noah Villarreal (treasurer). The LCU Athletic Department supervises the LCU SAAC, with Jessica Pope (advisor) Jason Speegle (co-advisor) playing active roles with the LCU SAAC. Speegle accepted the SAAC Cup at the presentation, which marks LCU's first SAAC Cup (12th time the LSC has presented the trophy).
