RICHARDSON, Texas – After recording two shutouts in her first two matches, Abby Kone was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the Lone Star Conference on Monday, Aug. 29.
The freshman out of Uvalde, Texas faced 12 total shots in two matches against Western Colorado and Fort Lewis this past weekend, tallying four saves while going 1-0-1 in the Centennial State.
In the Lady Chaps season opener against Western Colorado on Aug. 25, Kone earned her first collegiate save in the 23

On Saturday, Aug. 27, Kone was pivotal down the stretch for the Lady Chaps, hauling in three saves against Fort Lewis. In the 60
th minute, the Skyhawks' Aubrey Swindle found herself in front of the net one-on-one with Kone with a chance to give Fort Lewis the lead, but Kone handled the line drive shot to keep the match scoreless. Fort Lewis had another chance in the 83

This is the first time a Lady Chap has been named Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week since Oct. 4, 2021, when

The Lady Chaps will look to not only stay unbeaten but also continue their shutout streak, traveling to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on New Mexico Highlands on Friday, Sept. 2 before the Lady Chaps home opener on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the LCU Soccer & Track Facility against East Central.
