Box Score PUEBLO, Colo. (September 17, 2022) – The Lubbock Christian University men's tennis program improved to 2-1 in duals play, as they closed out the Pueblo Duals with a 4-3 win over Colorado Mesa Saturday morning at City Park Tennis Complex.
 
The Chaps cruised through doubles play, garnering the 1-0 lead after doubles teams of Kelly Giese / Braden Tipton, Martins Abamu / Herman Aguirre and Alex Donnelly / Matthijs Mallee all won their match for a doubles sweep. Donnelly and Mallee are 5-0 this season and improved to 3-0 in duals (doubles). LCU's No.1-No.3 singles all won their matches, with Tipton serving as the lone Chap to win his match in straight sets. Abamu (No.1) and Giese (No.2) each won in tiebreakers, with Abamu winning his tiebreaker 10-4 and Giese winning his with a 10-7 decision. Abamu improved to 3-0 in duals singles matches this season.

"Our men were resilient today. We could have hung our heads about the tough loss from yesterday, but the guys came out firing in doubles and set the tone by sweeping all three courts. The top three singles matches were tight, but we closed out the tiebreakers today and I'm proud of Braden (Tipton) for winning his first singles match and Kelly (Giese) for the come from behind win to clinch the match for the Chaps"
