How It Happened

Set One:
It was LCU from the start, as trio of OC attack errors allowed LCU to open the set on a 5-0 run. LCU had leads of 8-1 and 11-2 to open play. They closed the set on an 11-1 run for a 25-7 set win. The Lady Chaps had a hitting percentage of .467 in the set and held OC to five kills and a -.086 attack percentage. Murray paced LCU with four kills and five different Lady Chaps had at least two kills.

Set Two:
LCU had a similar start in the second set, jumping out 4-1, but OC eventually came back and used a 5-0 run to take a 16-13 lead. Trailing 18-15, LCU received a pair of kills from Sage Chain to highlight a 6-0 LCU run to take a 21-18 lead. Murray mixed in a kill to spark a 3-0 run to close the set, which closed a 10-2 run and capped a 25-20 set win. Chain led LCU with four kills in the set.

Set Three:
LCU also had to use a comeback in the third set. They suffered their biggest deficit of the match, trailing 12-7 and 13-8, but a kill by Chain helped them march back. Capped by a kill from Hailey Cournoyer, Chain's kill surged a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 13-12. OC never relinquished the lead until Mady McCully served back-to-back aces for an 18-17 LCU lead. The set was tied at 21-21 before Chain bookended a 4-1 rally with kills to claim the set 25-22 and the match 3-0. Cournoyer led LCU in the set with four kills, while Chain and Gray each had a trio of kills.
