Highlights
Lubbock Christian University fell in the first Lone Star Conference road test of the season, dropping the match 3-1 in four sets. The Lady Chaps won the opening set, but DBU rode a 64-31 advantage in kills to win the following three sets. Baylor transfer AJ Koele produced 19 kills (attack percentage of .533) for DBU to lead all players. She was one of three Patriots in double figures in kills, as Lindsey Otero had 14 kills and Shaylee Shore added 12 kills. LCU received nine kills from Sage Chain, who led LCU with 13 points (three blocks and two serving aces).

How It Happened

Set One:
LCU got off to a slow start, as DBU opened the match on a 5-1 run. A kill by Kiana Fallaha sparked a 5-0 Lady Chaps run for a 6-5 lead. Neither team led by more than three points the rest of the match. LCU was leading 21-18 before Lindsey Otero had consecutive kills to highlight a 5-0 DBU run for a 23-21 DBU lead. Kills by Fallaha and Lily Bickley tied the set 23-23 and forced DBU into a timeout. The timeout didn't derail LCU, as Sage Chain produced a solo block and LCU claimed a 24-23 advantage. A pair of DBU errors allowed LCU to claim the set 26-24. Chain and Fallaha each had three kills in the set.

Set Two:
The second set had a similar start, as LCU fell behind 4-1. DBU added an 8-2 run and built their lead to 12-4. LCU was able to go on a 10-5 scoring advantage to pull within 21-17, but the Patriots scored the final four points to claim the set 25-21. The Lady Chaps had eight kills in the set and half were by Bickley. Koele paced DBU in the set with six kills.

Set Three:
The two teams were tied 13-13 in the third set before Emily Van Slate served a pair of aces to fuel a 5-0 DBU run. A kill by Bickley helped LCU break serve and a 3-0 run cut their deficit to 18-16. DBU scored seven of the next 11 points to keep the distance and claimed a 25-20 set win. DBU had an 18-7 advantage in kills.

Set Four:
Neither team had more than a two-point lead in the fourth set until DBU turned a 11-10 lead into 16-10 advantage with a 5-0 run. Koele had a pair of kills to spur a 6-0 run and the run extended the DBU lead to 24-14 before they won the set 25-16. Koele finished the set with six kills. Chain led LCU in the frame with three.

Inside the Numbers:
0-3 LCU falls to 0-3 in road games this season. They are 2-2 in their first LSC road game of the season.
18-15 Despite DBU producing 10 aces (LCU has allowed at least 10 aces in two of their three road games played), LCU had more points from the serving line. The Lady Chaps had an 18-15 advantage, as DBU hit 13 serving errors and LCU produced five aces.  The 13 serving errors by the opposition was the most since St. Mary's had 13 on Sept. 3, 2021 against LCU.
63-31 DBU's 63-31 kill advantage over LCU was the biggest margin of kills by an LCU opponent since LCU became NCAA members (2015 season), and the highest program mark since game-by-game records have been tracked since 2008.
5 DBU claimed only their fifth all-time win over LCU in 43 meetings, as LCU's overall record drops to 38-4 against DBU (the win by DBU ended LCU's six-game win streak in the all-time series).
