Highlights
Lubbock Christian University was unable to find momentum Saturday at UT Tyler, as the Patriots used 10 aces and a .283 attack percentage to defeat the Lady Chaparrals in straight sets (3-0). Mikayla Ware produced 14 kills and served a trio of aces for UTT. She was one of three Patriots in double figures (in kills), joining Maiya Pena (11) and Hannah Callison (10). The only main category led by a Lady Chaps was Kendall Mahaney, who led all players with 13 digs. Sage Chain and Lily Bickley co-led all players with three blocks. Bickley led LCU offensively with eight kills.

How It Happened

Set One:
UT Tyler had a pair of key runs to take the opening set 25-18. They opened with a 7-3 run to start the game, but LCU was able to climb back with a solo block by Kalli Dalland to give LCU a 14-13 lead. LCU didn't have the lead for long, as UTT closed the set on a 12-4 run, which included a 5-0 push by the Patriots. Maiya Pena, Hannah Callison and Mikayla Ware each had five kills for UTT, who finished with 17 in the set.

Set Two:
Neither team had more than three-point lead until UTT went on a 3-0 run for a 15-10 lead. LCU crawled back and a Patriots attack error led to the Patriots lead cut to 17-15. UTT called a timeout and it was key, as they responded with an 8-1 run to claim the set 25-16. Ware posted another five kills in the set for UTT, who posted a second consecutive team attack percentage of .333 in the frame.

Set Three:
LCU had an early 5-4 lead, but a pair of serving aces by Saige Rivera highlighted a 6-0 run, which was part of an 8-1 surge for a 10-5 UTT lead. The closest LCU would get is 21-17, which followed a 4-0 run capped by a Kayton Genenbacher kill. Behind four kills from Ware and a trio of aces by Rivera, the Patriots would claim the set 25-19 for the straight-set win. Bickley led LCU in the set with three kills.

Inside the Numbers:
0-4 LCU falls to 0-4 in road games this season (LCU was 10-2 last season on the road).
10 UTT racked up 10 serving aces to match a high a high by an LCU opponent this season. LCU opponents have posted 10 aces in three of the four road games LCU has played in this season.
.571 Emily Bickley posted a .571 attack percentage and has consecutive matches with at least a .500 attack percentage. She leads LCU with a .285 mark on the season.
4 UTT and LCU were meeting for the fourth time and UTT has won all four meetings. The teams were meeting for a second time this season, as the two teams met in a non-conference LSC Crossover Tournament Sept. 8.
