How It Happened
Set One:
LCU never trailed in the opening set.
Kalli Dalland had a kill and a block as part of a 7-2 run to put LCU up early. LCU maintained the margin until a pair of kills from
Lily Bickley capped a 6-1 run, which eventually turned into a 9-2 run for an 18-7 lead. LCU claimed the set 25-14, with
Kayton Genenbacher racking up 13 assists. LCU had a 15-6 kill advantage.
Set Two:
FLC went from a -.028 attack percentage to a .344 attack mark in the second set behind eight kills from JJ Curry. Kills were not the only thing Curry was tabulating in the frame, as she also had an ace, which was part of an 11-4 lead to start the set. An ace by Genenbacher capped a 7-1 run to help LCU cut the deficit to 15-13, but FLC closed the set on a 10-2 run.
Set Three:
The third set had the same start as the second start, as LCU fell behind 7-1 due in part to a trio of attack errors. A
Kalli Dalland kill sparked a 9-2 LCU run and they were able to garner a 10-9 lead. Trailing 12-11,
Kiana Fallaha had kills serving as the bookend of a 6-0 run for a 17-12 lead. Chain produced the final two kills of the set and LCU claimed the set 25-19. FLC produced 10 attack errors in the frame and their attack percentage was -.075. Four Lady Chaps had at least two kills in the frame, with Chain leading the team with three.
Set Four:
The Lady Chaps opened the fourth set on a 5-0 run. They built the lead with a 5-2 scoring advantage, capped by a
Kaitlyn Mayo kill, to place the score at 18-10. Mayo had another kill to cap a 4-0 run and LCU led 24-13 before claiming the set 24-15. Fallaha (4) and Mayo (3) combined for seven of LCU's 12 kills in the set, as LCU hit .444 in the frame.
