EAST AND WEST MEET IN LUBBOCK
Lubbock Christian University returns home and continues play in the Lone Star Conference's West Division this week, as Eastern New Mexico comes to Rip Griffin Center Thursday (5:30 p.m. tip) and Western New Mexico comes to Lubbock Saturday (1 p.m.) to complete the week's load of games. The Lady Chaps head into Thursday's contest tied for second in the West Division with a 3-1 mark. Overall in the LSC standings, LCU sits in a share of fourth place in the conference standings.
THE FINAL HORN
Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant jumper from the left elbow with 0.9-seconds remaining was the go-ahead bucket to lead Angelo State past Lubbock Christian University 53-51 in a matchup of the Lone Star Conference's only unbeaten teams in West Division play Saturday afternoon inside Junell Center.
The loss was LCU's first of the season in which they led at the half (9-1) and led at the close of the third quarter (11-1).
Audrey Robertson led LCU with 18 points and completed her first career double-double with a career-high 12 rebounds.
Shaylee Stovall also finished in double figures in scoring with 12 points off a career-high four three-pointers. LCU fell despite a 10-8 advantage in second-chance scoring and an 18-11 scoring advantage in points-off-turnovers. They shot a season-low 29.5% from the field (18/61).
SEASON NOTES AND TRENDS
> LCU has been without starter
Whitney Cox the prior four games, leading to a change in the starting lineup (the only three changes to the starting lineup this season). Sophomores
Carli Bostwick (two starts) and
Reese Schumann (one start) alternated starts over the first three games of Cox's absence, with freshman
Martie McCoy making her starting debut Saturday at San Angelo. McCoy is the first freshman to start for LCU in their NCAA era, which began in the 2015-16 season. Tess Bruffey was the last freshman to start a game, which was Feb. 28, 2015 at Texas A&M International.

Grace Foster is sprinkled throughout the statistical leaderboard in the LSC, as she ranks second in the LSC in double-doubles (with five to tie for 43
rd nationally) and leads in rebounds (147, which is 11
th nationally) and in rebounds per game (9.2, which is 50
th nationally). On the offensive side, Foster leads the LSC in three-point shooting percentage (44.3%) and is third in the LSC in free-throw percentage (90.5%, 14
th nationally) and fifth in the LSC in scoring (15.4 points per game).
> LCU is among the LSC leaders in three-point shooting with a 33.2% shooting percentage from the perimeter this season, which has them third in the LSC. Audrey Robertson was solid at the Holiday Hoops Classic, averaging 17.0 points per game. She matched a career high with 15 points against No.13 Georgia Southwestern State and followed with a career-high 19 points in a victory over No.5 Montana State Billings. Since Dec. 16, which is when the Holiday Hoops Classic got underway, Robertson has averaged 15.3 points a game over a six-game span. She posted 18 points in each game last week on the road (at UT Permian Basin and Angelo State). Robertson, who is 35-of-60 (58.3%) from the field over the prior seven games, has double-figures in points in six consecutive games (heading into Thursday).
>The Lady Chaps are averaging 38.8 rebounds per game, posting a high of 48 against Cameron (Dec. 30). LCU has not averaged over 40 rebounds in a season since averaging 40.3 during the 2015-16 season.

Lubbock Christian is 6-2 in Lone Star Conference play and sits in a share of fourth place in the LSC (conference standings). A trio of Lady Chaps pace the scoring attack in conference play, as

Audrey Robertson (11.3) are averaging double figures in scoring in conference contests. Foster is also averaging 8.9 rebounds per game in conference (third in LSC). LCU is averaging 71.3 points per game (third in the LSC) in conference (shooting 42.8% from the field) and they have a LSC-best 16.1-point scoring margin (defense leads the LSC holding opponents to 55.1 points per game). LCU is 1-2 against nationally ranked programs this season, coming off a Dec. 17 win over No.15 MSU Billings in their prior game against a ranked opponent. They fell in their season opener (Nov.5) to No.6 Southern Missouri State and to No.13 Georgia Southwestern State (Dec. 16), as all three games this season against nationally ranked foes have come in neutral site contests. LCU went 6-0 against nationally ranked programs in 2020-21 and 3-2 in 2021-22 against the nations ranked foes (opened 3-0). The Lady Chaps have played three nationally ranked programs and six programs either nationally ranked or receiving top-25 votes. The D2SIDA Top-25 poll has LCU receiving votes.
SWEET HOME (ON) CHICAGO
LCU, who went 13-0 at home last season, is 7-0 at home this season, which has their active home win streak sitting at 111 games (it is the active and all-time leading mark in NCAA Division II women's basketball). LCU's last home loss came on Jan. 1, 2015 against Oklahoma City University. LCU, who also has a 7-0 mark in NCAA postseason play in Lubbock in the mix (not including a 4-0 mark in LSC postseason play), has also won 86 consecutive home conference games, with their last conference home loss occurring Jan. 10, 2013 (against Oklahoma City). PRIOR MEETING VS. ENMU
LUBBOCK, Texas (February 22, 2022) – No.11 Lubbock Christian University closed out their home-and-home series against Eastern New Mexico with a Lone Star Conference meeting in which LCU's
Ashton Duncan (15) and
Juliana Robertson (14) combined for 29 points and led the Lady Chaparrals to a 73-49 victory inside Rip Griffin Center.
The two teams had their offense rolling to open the game. LCU opened the game making their first five field goal attempts and both teams were 6-of-10 to start the game. The Lady Chaps had the game's first five points and Duncan scored seven of LCU's first 12 points for a 12-5 lead 2:34 into the game.
LCU and ENMU combined for 32 points in the first six minutes of the game, but LCU produced a 4-0 run for the only points over the final four minutes of the quarter for a 23-13 lead. Duncan (7) and Robertson (6) combined for 13 points in the quarter, as the Lady Chaps also had an 8-0 scoring advantage in points-off-turnovers.
The 4-0 run turned into a 12-2 scoring sequence in the second quarter, as LCU had a pair of 8-0 runs in the quarter. The second 8-0 run was capped by a layup from Robertson and LCU led 39-20 with 2:05 left in the half.
Channing Cunyus led LCU with five points in the quarter and LCU led 39-23 at the half. Robertson and Duncan each had 10 points at the break.
Duncan scored the first five points of the second half, with Robertson right with her adding a layup to help LCU open the half on a 5-0 run. ENMU, who went the final 4:52 of the first half without a field goal, went the opening 4:19 of the second half without a bucket.
Audrey Robertson, who led LCU in the quarter with eight points, hit a three-pointer with 1:42 left in the quarter to build LCU's lead to 58-32. LCU was 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the field in the third quarter.
LCU built their lead to 29 points twice in the fourth quarter, before closing the game with a 27-point win (73-46). The Lady Chaps outscored ENMU 11-10 in the fourth quarter despite shooting 17.6% (3/17) from the field.
Juliana Robertson and Duncan were the only Lady Chaps in double figures in points. Duncan was 3-of-7 from long range, and her seven attempts placed her with 673 career three-point attempts for a new LCU women's basketball career mark. She moved past Sierra Lovorn (Wilcox), who had 672 attempts 2005-09.
Iyanna McCurdy led ENMU with 14 points and was ENMU's only player in double figures. ENMU fell to 9-13 and 5-10 overall.
