LUBBOCK, Texas (October 13, 2023) -- Returning home following a four-match road trip, the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals opened a four-match homestand winning the first set, but couldn't hold on and lost the match 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 22-25) to Angelo State Friday in Lone Star Conference play inside Rip Griffin Center.
The loss dropped Lubbock Christian's record to 12-7 overall and 4-5 in LSC action. The loss extended LCU's home losing streak to three matches.
The Lady Chaps offense was paced by Kiana Fallaha, who finished with 14 kills on the day. Payton Murray added 11 and Lily Bickley chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Lubbock Christian attack. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs (Kayton Genenbacher's 12, Chloe Menard 12, and 11 more from Olivia Elofsson). Genenbacher also added 42 assists to claim a double-double performance.

SET 1 | The Lady Chaps persevered in a back-and-forth first set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 10 times (final tie was 16-16). Neither team led by more than three points in the set. Payton Murray led LCU with four kills in the opening set and LCU hit .275 in the set
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian fell in set two 25-20 to tie the match 1-1. Angelo State grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Rams took over in the second half of the set utilizing a trio of 3-0 runs. ASU used a 16-11 kill advantage and had a .333 attack percentage in the frame (Lamphere led ASU with 6 kills in the set). Bickley paced LCU with four kills in the frame.
SET 3 | A set-three loss put Lubbock Christian behind two sets to one. The Lady Chaps came up short by the score of 25-22 despite leading 13-7 in the set. Angelo State, using an 8-1 run to rally back, grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 (in a set that was tied up six times). LCU had a trio of serving aces in the set, with a pair by Elofsson.
SET 4 | Lubbock Christian lost set four and the match, falling 25-22. Angelo State jumped out to a 4-1 lead and Lubbock Christian was never able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Rams closed the match on a 4-1 run. Fallaha and Murray each had five kills in the set for LCU. The teams combined for 30 kills in the set (16 by ASU).
