A Trip to the LSC Tournament on the Line as Lady Chaps Battle St. Edward's on Friday

LUBBOCK, Texas – It's win or go home for the Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team as they battle St. Edward's Friday afternoon in the regular season finale.

LADY CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • The Lady Chaps are coming off a 1-0 loss to Midwestern State on Tuesday (Oct. 31). Kara Murray collected four saves in the loss and the LCU offense registered four shots on goal.
  • LCU is 4-5-1 in Lone Star Conference play and find themselves in seventh place in the conference standings.
  • The Lady Chaps have outscored their opponents 20 to 17 this season, averaging 1.25 goals per game on 12.5 shots a game.
  • LCU has taken 200 shots, 91 of which have been on goal.
HOMETOWN HERO
  • Lubbock native Lexi De La Cruz has been one of the best offensive players in the Lone Star Conference this season scoring nine goals and dishing out six assists.
  • She has scored the most goals in the LSC and is top-3 in the conference in assists, game-winning goals, and points.
 FLASHY FRESHMAN
  • Freshman Forward Emily Douglas has been De La Cruz's partner in crime on the offensive end this season.
  • The Phoenix, AZ. Native has found the back of the net three times this season and contributed four assists as well.
  • She is top-10 in the LSC in game-winning goals and assists.
 MURRAY MADNESS
  • Freshman Goalkeeper Kara Murray has started every game for the Lady Chaps. Facing 169 shots and making 63 saves.
  • She has a .788 save percentage and allows 1.14 goals per game.
  • She has recorded three shutouts this season. The fifth most in the LSC.
  • Kara was named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 24).
THE SERIES WITH ST. EDWARD'S
  • The Hilltoppers have dominated the all-time series with LCU, coming into Friday's match with a 13-2-2 all-time record.
  • The Lady Chaps topped the Hilltoppers 5-1 in 2022.
  • LCU is 1-4-1 all-time at home against SEU.
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
  • St. Edward's is coming off a 1-0 loss to UT Tyler on Tuesday (Oct. 31). They enter Friday's match with a 4-5-2 conference record and sit in eighth place in the LSC standings.
  • The Hilltoppers have been outscored 15 to 23 this season, averaging 1.07 goals per game on 8.8 shots a game.
  • SEU's offense is led by Ari Ramirez and Caitlyn Gonzalez. The duo has combined for seven goals and seven assists this season.
  • Gonzalez is fourth in the LSC in assists with six.
  • Goalkeepers Daria Schlumbohm and Hannah Simpson have split time in net for the Hilltoppers. Schlumbohm has seen most of the action starting in nine games. She's made 44 saves on 149 shots faced, allowing 1.37 goals a game with a .772 save percentage.
  • SEU is 3-4-1 on the road this season.
  • The Hilltoppers are coached by Nick Cowell who is in his 16th season.
