LADY CHAP HEADERS
  • Lubbock Christian University has reached the postseason for the second straight season and will host UT Dallas in round one of the Lone Star Conference Tournament at 7 p.m. on Friday
  • The Lady Chaps need one more win this season to reach their highest win total since 2019 when they had their program-best record of 13-5-2
  • Junior midfielder Journey Curs scored her sixth goal of the season on Tuesday against St. Mary's and is tied for 14th in the LSC with 16 total points
  • The Lady Chaps finished their LSC slate with a 5-4-5 league record and 20 points, which earned them the No. 7 seed and the right to host this first round game
  • UT Dallas is allowing just 0.83 goals against this season, which is the sixth-best mark in the conference, and they have recorded 12 shutouts

POSTSEASON PLAY
This is LCU's fifth overall appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. They have previously appeared in 2019, 2020 and 2022 and 2025. Although the Lady Chaps have never won a game in the LSC Tournament, they did advance to the second round in their first-ever tournament appearance in 2019, passing Angelo State in a PK shootout. In LCU's most recent tournament appearance in 2025, they played St. Edward's to a 1-1 draw through two overtimes, but had their season end in the penalty kick shootout.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
The Lady Chaps scored twice in Tuesday's regular season finale against St. Mary's, bringing their season scoring average to 1.72, which is the sixth-best mark in the league. The goals against the Rattlers came from Journey Curs and Logan Holloway, who rank first and second, respectively, on the team in scoring. Another 10 LCU players have found the back of the net this season, including seven players with multiple goals. LCU's season-high in scoring came on Sept. 3 against Western Colorado, when they netted eight goals. The team is averaging 12.5 shots per game and putting 48.4 percent of those shots on goal.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET
Lubbock Christian and UT Dallas faced off during the regular season, fighting to a 0-0 draw at the UTD Soccer Complex. The Comets out-shot the Lady Chaps 14-5 in the game, but LCU actually finished with two shots on goal to just one for UTD. The Comets did have three shots hit the post during the game, but were unable to find the back of the net. It was the sixth shutout of the season for the Lady Chaps. There were a combined 25 fouls and five yellow cards, four of which were shown to UT Dallas.

ALL THE WRIGHT PLACES
Senior goalkeeper Emma Wright made four saves in the draw against St. Mary's. Wright, who has been named the LSC Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season, has made 75 saves, which ranks sixth in the conference. Her .789 save percentage is third-best among league keepers with at least 70 saves. She has faced 213 shots, posting a 1.26 goals against average and recording six shutouts. Wright surpassed the 100-save mark for her career earlier this year and is now up to 169 in 44 collegiate games.

FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian has been at its best this season when they are the first team to find the back of the net. LCU is 7-1-1 in games in which they score first, with the only draw coming in Tuesday's match against StMU. On Saturday, Addyson McElhaney broke open the scoring for the Lady Chaps in just the fourth minute, which was the earliest goal scored by an LCU player since 2023. LCU's one comeback win this season came at Oklahoma Christian, when the allowed a goal in the sixth minute but came back to win 2-1.

WHERE THE HEART IS
Lubbock Christian is currently 4-3-2 at home after going 4-4-1 at the friendly confines last year. This is the final game at home of the 2026 season, and if LCU wins it will be their most home victories since 2019, when they won a program-high eight. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's women's team has an all-time record of 74-39-25 all-time in home games. They have only posted losing records at home twice in 15 seasons. They did not lose a home game in 2015 (7-0-2).

SCOUTING THE COMETS
  • Defender Emma Best, who leads UTD in minutes played, and forward Ella Spiller, who is second on the team in shots, were both members of the Lady Chap program the last two seasons
  • This is the first season that UT Dallas has been eligible for postseason play at the Division II level after recently transition from Division III
  • The Comets average 1.67 goals per game, which is the seventh-best mark in the Lone Star Conference
  • UT Dallas is 1-2-2 in the five games they have played since the meeting with Lubbock Christian, with the only win coming against West Texas A&M on Oct. 24
  • Senior Melyna Martinez has handled every minute in goal for the Comets after transferring from Angelo State, where she was named LSC Goalkeeper of the Year last season

A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD:
- Be the 148th in Lubbock Christian program history (147-110-42)
- Be the 25th under head coach Alistair Caldwell (24-19-11)
- Be the Lady Chaps' first-ever win against UT Dallas since the all-time series began in 2025 (0-1-1)
