OVER THE TOP
With their win Thursday night at Western New Mexico and scores elsewhere around the Lone Star Conference, LCU finds themselves atop the West Division and they control their own destiny towards a West Division title. The Lady Chaps, 9-2 in the West Division, play their first game since leapfrogging Angelo State Saturday on the road at Eastern New Mexico. ENMU contributed to the shuffle in the standings with a Thursday night home win over West Texas A&M. LCU seeks their fourth consecutive road victory Saturday.
OUT WEST
Lubbock Christian University held Western New Mexico to 14 points in the second half and overcame a halftime deficit, behind 15 points in the second half from
Grace Foster, as the Lady Chaparrals moved into first place of Lone Star Conference's West Division with a 54-40 Thursday night victory at Drag's Court in Silver City, N.M.
LCU's defense held WNMU to 5-of-25 (20%) from the field in the second half. Overall, WNMU was held to a 28.6% shooting mark from the field (16/56). They were a miserable 7.7% (1/13) from three-point range in the contest. LCU was 41.7% (20/48) from the field and sub-par from outside at 21.4% (3/14).
Foster led LCU with 24 points and was 8-of-11 inside the arc (72.7%). She also led LCU with seven rebounds. Maddox joined Foster in double figures with 11 points. LCU claimed victory despite a season-low mark in rebounds with 27. They were out-rebounded 36-27.
WNMU (7-15, 5-12) had Susi Namao and Diamond Moore co-lead the Mustangs offense with 11 points each. Moore was 5-of-7 from the field, while the rest of the team was a combined 22.4% (11/49).

SWEET HOME (ON) CHICAGO
On Feb. 2, the NCAA Division II record home win streak came to a close, as LCU fell to Angelo State, which ended the record win streak at 113. The loss was LCU's first at home since Jan. 1, 2015 against Oklahoma City University. LCU, who also had a 7-0 mark in NCAA postseason play in Lubbock in the mix (not including a 4-0 mark in LSC postseason play), had also won 88 consecutive home conference games (their last conference home loss occurred Jan. 10, 2013 against Oklahoma City). They completed a 49-0 all-time mark in Heartland Conference home games (they are 35-1 in LSC home games). LCU also went 11-1 during their 113-game home win streak against nationally ranked programs.

PRIOR MEETING VS. ENMU
LUBBOCK, TEXAS (January 12, 2023) -
Grace Foster completed her sixth double-double of the season (17 points, 11 rebounds) and was joined by three additional Lady Chaparrals in double figures offensively, led by a career-high 13 points from
Reese Schumann, as Lubbock Christian University shot a season-high 60.4% from the field to top Eastern New Mexico 77-55 in a Lone Star Conference West Division contest Thursday night. The win extended LCU's home win streak to 112 consecutive victories inside Rip Griffin Center.
Foster's team-leading sixth double-double performance got started early, as she posted eight points and four rebounds in the first quarter of play. Her point totals followed
Shaylee Stovall opening the game's scoring with a three-pointer, which was part of five straight points for Stovall to open a 5-0 LCU lead. With 5:15 remaining in the first quarter, Foster hit a three-pointer and followed with an old-school three-pointer to open the first six points of an 8-0 run for a 15-6 lead with 3:33 remaining. LCU went without a field goal the remainder of the quarter and held for a 19-15 lead. LCU shot 66.7% (6/9) in the quarter, but was plagued by eight turnovers for a 9-2 scoring advantage for ENMU in points-off-turnovers.
LCU's drought from the field would end eight seconds into the second quarter, as
Audrey Robertson nailed a three-pointer to build LCU's lead to 22-15. It would be LCU's largest lead for a while, as ENMU responded with an 8-2 run to trail 24-23 halfway through the quarter.
Maci Maddox drained a three-pointer to hold the LCU lead, but Lazurea Saunders responded with a three-pointer for ENMU and it ignited a 7-2 run for a 30-29 ENMU lead with 3:01 remaining. Saunders capped the run with a layup and it turned out to be the final points for ENMU in the half. LCU closed the half on a 6-0 run, highlighted by an
Audrey Robertson three-pointer, for a 35-30 halftime lead. Robertson led LCU with seven points in the second quarter, as her and Foster combined for 17 points in the first half.
The LCU lead fluctuated between 3-7 points throughout most of the third quarter. Each time ENMU cut LCU's lead to one possession, LCU had an answer. Stovall had a layup with LCU leading 35-32 (8:19 remaining), Foster hit a three-pointer with a 39-36 lead (6:34 remaining) and a layup leading 42-40 (5:31 remaining) and Robertson opened a 10-0 run with LCU leading 44-42 with 4:18 remaining to give LCU a 54-42 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The run developed into a 14-0 run following Foster's layup 49 seconds into the fourth quarter for a 58-42 lead. Schumann had seven points in the fourth quarter, with five tallied during a 7-0 run, which was part of a 12-3 run for a 74-52 lead as 3:18 remained. LCU was 10-of-13 from the field in the final frame for a 76.9% shooting percentage. LCU outscored ENMU 23-13 in the fourth quarter and 42-25 in the second half.
Foster led LCU with 17 points off 7-of-10 shooting and was 2-of-2 from long range. She had a +29 plus/minus. Schumann was 5-of-5 from the field and had four blocks in her career-high 13-point outing. The two were joined offensively in double-figures by Robertson (12 points) and Stovall (10 points).
Maci Maddox, with a +24 plus/minus, missed out joining the quartet (finished with nine points), but she posted seven assists and three steals. LCU was plagued early by 11 turnovers in the first half, but trimmed their turnover mark to seven in the second half.
LCU was 60.4% from the field (29/48), going 20-of-28 (71.4%) inside the arc. Their shooting percentage from the field was their best shooting performance since a 65.1% clip on Mar. 13, 2021 (vs. Cameron).
ENMU (7-7, 4-5) outscored LCU 12-2 in second-chance scoring, as they had 13 offensive rebounds (LCU had one). Like LCU, the Greyhounds had four players in double figures. Deja Adrian led ENMU with 18 points, as Saunders and Bella Stone each had 13 points and Edecia Beck had 10 points. ENMU struggled from long distance, hitting their first three-pointer on their 10th attempt and their second on their 20th attempt. They finished 12.5% from three-point range (3/24) and shot 29.5% (18/61) overall from the field.
