24-Hour Fundraising Twitch Stream Takes Place Friday

Event to Benefit Extra Life / Children's Miracle Network Aims to Raise $2000

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 14, 2023) – The Lubbock Christian University Esports Program is conducting "Gamers Zone," which is a 24-hour fundraising event to benefit Extra Life. The 24-hour online event begins at noon Friday and takes place at LCU Esports Official Twitch Page (https://www.twitch.tv/lcuesports).
 
LCU Esports, and director of Esports gaming Brandon Hackett, are aiming to reach a goal of $2,000 in donations towards UMC Children's Hospital, which serves the local Extra Life / Children's Miracle Network Hospital. During the 24-hour stream, different games will be played each hour, and online viewers will have the opportunity to meet and chat with the LCU Esports members. The are financial goals (donation based) and prizes will be awarded for each one obtained. There are fun activities planned and additional gimmicks to help achieve their financial goals. Hackett has agreed to take a pie to the face when $500 has been raised, and LCU Dean of Students Josh Stephens has agreed to the same when the total goal of $2000 has been achieved. 
 
Extra Life is a fundraising program of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals®. The Extra Life community fundraises year-round to Change Kids' Health to Change the Future. Donations go to member children's hospitals to fund critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services, along with innovative research, vital pediatric medical equipment, and child life services. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $100 million USD to Change Kids' Health to Change the Future.
