OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (September 23, 2023) -- For a second time in a week, Lubbock Christian University defeated Oklahoma Christian, but Saturday LCU completed the task at Eagles' Nest and in conference play (their first Lone Star Conference victory of the season), as they rallied after dropping the first set to secure a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17) against the Eagles.
The conference victory improved Lubbock Christian's record to 9-3 overall and 1-1 in LSC action.
The Lady Chaps posted a season-high 10 aces in the match, with six by Chloe Menard, who also provided a team-leading 13 digs. Lacie Schooley finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Lady Chaps attack (she was the lone Lady Chaps member in double figures in kills). Defensively, LCU had two players reach double figures in digs as Menard had 13 and Kiana Fallaha had 11. Schooley posted a career-high four blocks and co-led LCU, with Lily Bickley and Kalli Dalland also providing four blocks each.

The total ranks tied for the second-most in a match by a Lady Chaps member since 2008 and the most since Bradi Marshall posted eight at Dallas Baptist on Oct. 20, 2018. How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Chaps couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-22 in a game that featured eight lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match and the Eagles ended the set on a 5-2 run. Camryn McGough paced the Eagles with seven kills in the frame. Bickley, Dalland and Payton Murray each had three kills to co-lead LCU.
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian responded to pick up a 25-15 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. The Lady Chaps took control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and never trailed following a 10-3 run. Lubbock Christian opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to finish off the set. The Lubbock Christian offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza (two by Menard). LCU won the set despite seven kills, as LCU had a 9-2 scoring advantage from the serving line (5 OC serving errors and 4 LCU aces for their nine points).
SET 3 | Lubbock Christian took a 2-1 match lead after defeating the Eagles in the third set. The Lady Chaps seized the set 25-19. Lubbock Christian took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Chaps took over in the second half of the stanza (used a 6-0 run while trailing 13-12 and closed the set on 7-2 advantage). Lubbock Christian's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Oklahoma Christian attacks in the set and capitalizing on 10 Oklahoma Christian attacking errors on the way to victory (Bickley, Dalland, and Kiana Fallaha each had two blocks). Bickley and Dalland each had three kills and 4.0 points in the set.
SET 4 | Lubbock Christian ended the match with a 25-17 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Lady Chaps took the lead for good at 12-11 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Lady Chaps took over the lead (LCU closed the match on an 8-2 scoring run). Schooley had five kills and a block in the final set.

LCU plays their first LSC home matches Friday and Saturday, hosting Dallas Baptist (Friday at 6 p.m.) and UT Tyler (Saturday at 2 p.m.) inside Rip Griffin Center.
