LUBBOCK, Texas (September 29, 2023) --Lubbock Christian University jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but couldn't hold on and fell 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-27, 18-25) to Dallas Baptist Friday in their Lone Star Conference home opener inside Rip Griffin Center.
The loss dropped Lubbock Christian's record to 9-4 overall and 1-2 in LSC action.
The Lady Chaps were led by a double-double from Kiana Fallaha, who registered 13 kills and 15 digs in the contest. Fallaha's double-double was joined by a double-double (33 assists, 14 digs) from Kayton Genenbacher. Lily Bickley also added 14 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Chloe Menard chipped in with a team-high 19 digs and the Lady Chaps received a career-high five blocks from Lacie Schooley.

» Lubbock Christian had five players in double figures in digs. Menard led the squad with 19 digs, and she was followed by Fallaha (15), Genenbacher (14), Olivia Elofsson (11) and Ramsey Clark (11).
» Kayton Genenbacher had a team-high two aces to go along with her double-double, which was the sixth of the season and her 17th of her career.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Chaps grabbed control on the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-20. Lubbock Christian opened up its biggest lead, five points, to finish off the set, collecting 15 kills in the process. Wells (DBU) and Fallaha (LCU) each led their squads in kills with six during the set.
SET 2 | Lubbock Christian lost the second set 25-2, as DBU tied the match 1-1. The Lady Chaps fell in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured three lead changes and the score tied seven times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way, with 20-20 marking the last time in the set the score was tied. Wells posted seven kills in the frame for DBU.
SET 3 | A set-three loss put Lubbock Christian down two sets to one. The Lady Chaps couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth battle, losing 27-25 in a set that featured five lead changes and a score tied 15 times (25-25 marking the 15th time in the set). Neither team had a lead of more than three points.Bickley (7) and Fallaha (5) combined for 12 kills in the set for LCU.
SET 4 | Lubbock Christian lost the fourth set and the match, falling 25-18. The Lady Chaps trailed by as many as eight points as Dallas Baptist grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 and Lubbock Christian wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Patriots took over. A 9-1 run sparked the Patriots.
