LCU Plays Host to Familiar Opponent

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 2, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University (LCU) seeks its first home Lone Star Conference (LSC) win, hosting Eastern New Mexico (ENMU) after a thrilling 3-2 victory over St. Edward's. LCU enters with a 3-3-1 overall record (1-1-0 LSC), while ENMU stands at 2-3-1 (1-1-0 LSC), both teams earning their first LSC win on Saturday.

The visiting Greyhounds will come into Lubbock with a record of 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 within the Lone Star Conference. Eastern New Mexico also recorded their first conference victory Saturday, as they defeated Sul Ross State 1-0 in Alpine.

The history between LCU and ENMU in women's soccer dates back to 2010, with LCU holding a 4-1-2 advantage over seven matchups. LCU has never lost to ENMU at home, boasting a 2-0-2 record. Their largest victory came in 2019 with a 3-0 win, while their only loss occurred in 2013. The two teams most recently met on September 20, 2023, where LCU secured a 2-0 road win. LCU has outscored ENMU 10-4 overall, averaging 1.43 goals per game.

Goalkeeper Emma Wright has continued a strong sophomore stint, with 25 saves and a 78.1% save percentage through seven games started. Freshman Ella Spiller has been a surprise spark plug on offense, boasting the best offensive statistics on the team. Spiller has two goals and three assists on the season, tied for the team lead in goals and leader in assists. Followed closely behind Spiller, Avery Jennings has recorded two goals and two assists in her senior campaign.

LCU's defense leads the conference in fouls per game (7.43), and goalkeeper Emma Wright boasts a 78.1% save percentage. Freshman Ella Spiller leads the Lady Chaps in points (7), contributing two goals and three assists.
