Lubbock Christian enters the match holding a 6-5-3 overall record, with a 4-3-2 mark in Lone Star Conference matches. The Lady Chaps are coming off a 1-1 draw in the annual Rivalry on the Range match against West Texas A&M Wednesday. Away from Lubbock, the Lady Chaps have posted a 2-3-1 record on the year. Lubbock Christian fell 2-0 to Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City in their prior road tilt.
The Lobos come into Saturday's contest with a 2-10 overall and 0-8 conference record. Sul Ross State is currently undergoing their first season in the Lone Star Conference since transitioning from the NCAA Division III level. They are currently on a nine-game losing streak, with their last win coming against Wayland Baptist on September 11. Furthermore, the Lobos have been held winless in all Lone Star matches this season. In their last match, they were on the losing end of a 10-0 result against UT Tyler in Tyler.
The Lady Chaps and the Lobos enter uncharted territory this Saturday, meeting for the first time in women's soccer. Both Lubbock Christian and Sul Ross State will be vying for a defining result in their inaugural matchup.
Lubbock Christian continues to be led by standout freshman Ella Spiller, as she leads the Lady Chaps in points, assists and co-leads the team in goals scored. Furthermore, she ranks seventh in points and second in assists in the Lone Star Conference. Spiller netted the only goal for the Lady Chaps on Wednesday, moving her season total to five, which tied her with Avery Jennings for most on the team. Jennings has also provided a strong offensive presence for Lubbock Christian, with her aforementioned five goals and three assists for a total of 13 points. The Lady Chaps have shown immense depth at the goalkeeper position, with all three Lubbock Christian goalies recording multiple starts this season. Megan Mirabal has started the last two matches for the Lady Chaps and is recording a 58.3% save percentage. Kara Murray boasts the highest save percentage (80%), while Emma Wright holds the highest number of saves (25).
Sul Ross State is led offensively by tandem Karina Gallegos and Mia Serrano, who have each scored three goals for the Lobos this season. In goal, the Lobos are led by Celeste De La Rosa, who ranks fifth in the conference for saves per game (4.45) and is also among the top performers in several categories: 12th in goals-against average (3.76), 11th in shutouts per game (1), and 12th in total saves (49).
