CANYON, Texas (October 8, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University's performance at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational was characterized by consistency and improvement, particularly in the final round. The Chaparrals finished 12th overall, fueled by standout performances from junior
Hayden Bowman and sophomore
Richman Houston, as the three-round tournament concluded Tuesday at Amarillo Country Club.
In the final round, Bowman shot a 66 (-4), supported by six birdies, four of which came on the back nine. This marked the second-best round of the tournament for LCU, highlighting Bowman's strength on par-3 holes where he averaged 2.75 (-3), placing him third in that category for the tournament.
LCU's strong par-3 play continued throughout the team, finishing third overall in par-3 scoring with an average of 3.03 (+2). Their par play was also exceptional, tying for first place with 177 total pars. Houston, a model of consistency, finished the tournament with a score of 213 (+3) and ranked fourth in the field with 40 pars.
In addition, freshman Hudson Reagan added to LCU's strong final day, shooting an even-par 70 in the last round.
Lubbock Christian will return to play in two weeks (Oct. 21-22) and will look to improve their result. They will compete in their last Fall tournament at the Jerry Hrnciar Invitational in Duncan, Okla. hosted by Cameron.
