EDMOND, Okla. (March 17, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University delivered its strongest finish of the season Tuesday, finishing ahead of five nationally ranked programs and climbing to a runner-up finish at the Oak Tree Invitational at Oak Tree Country Club.
The Chaparrals posted a final-round 293 (+13) to finish at 592 (+32) for the 36-hole event, securing second place in the 18-team field behind No.19 West Texas A&M University (588, +28). The finish marks LCU's best of the 2025-26 season and its highest since placing second at the Hillcat Invitational in 2019.
Originally scheduled as a 54-hole tournament, the event was shortened to 36 holes after Monday morning's round was canceled due to single-digit wind chills. LCU opened with a 299 (+11) Monday afternoon and used a steady, across-the-board effort Tuesday to move up the leaderboard.
Consistency proved to be the difference for the Chaparrals, who led the field with 107 pars over two rounds while limiting costly mistakes. LCU ranked among the top teams in every scoring category, finishing tied for third in par-3 scoring (3.42), tied for third in par-4 scoring (4.32) and sixth in par-5 scoring (4.90), reinforcing a balanced approach on the 7,102-yard, par-70 layout.
Hayden Bowman paced the Chaps with a career-highlight performance, finishing second individually at 3-over 143 after closing with an even-par 70 Tuesday. The senior followed his opening-round 73 with a composed final round that featured a 34 on the back nine, matching his best finish of the season and recording the third top-three finish of his career.
Hudson Reagan added a 4-over 74 in the final round to finish tied for 20th at 150 (+10), while
Maximiliano Dufey placed tied for 24th at 151 (+11) after a 77 Tuesday. Dufey also finished tied for the tournament lead with 25 pars.
Dylan Ford delivered one of the biggest improvements in the field, shaving eight strokes off his opening round with a 2-over 72 to finish tied for 28th at 152 (+12). Ford also recorded one of the tournament's eight eagles.
Noel Bondesson contributed a 76 (+6) in Monday's opening round but did not complete the final round.
Competing as an individual,
Grayson Henegar finished tied for 47th at 155 (+15), following his opening-round 73 with an 82 on Tuesday.
LCU entered the final round tied for third but steadily climbed throughout the day behind clean scorecards and strong closing stretches, ultimately securing the program's highest finish in nearly seven years. They finished ahead of No.30 Harding (third), No.24 UT Permian Basin (fourth), No.50 Cameron (fifth) No.40 UT Tyler (sixth) and No.25 Midwestern State (eighth).
The Chaparrals will continue their spring schedule March 23-24 at the Midwestern State Invitational, hosted by Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls Country Club.
