Both runners claim award for the first time in their career

RICHARDSON, Texas (November 11, 2024) -- The 2024 Lone Star Conference All-Academic teams for Men's and Women's Cross Country were announced Monday, with Lubbock Christian University earning two honorees—one male and one female. Sophomores Kinley Cornelsen and Alfons Rawall received their first All-Academic recognition. With these honorees, Lubbock Christian has had a cross country runner recognized in five consecutive seasons, maintaining a streak that began in 2019.

Cornelsen earned All-Academic honors in women's cross country with a perfect 4.00 GPA in Exercise Science. The Canyon, Texas native competed in every meet for the Lady Chaps this season, recording her best finish at the DBU Old Glory Gallop with a time of 20:21. As a freshman, Cornelsen was also named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Rawall was recognized for his outstanding 4.00 GPA in Economics. The sophomore from Gothenburg, Sweden, competed in every meet this season for Lubbock Christian, consistently finishing among the Chaparrals' top runners. He led the team with a top finish at the Texas Tech Open, clocking in at 26:57, and placed within the team's top five at every meet. This marks Rawall's first academic honor at Lubbock Christian.

Lubbock Christian joined Dallas Baptist as the only two schools to receive a selection for both genders. West Texas A&M's Lexi Maul and DBU's Adam Whitehead were named the Academic Runners of the Year for the Lone Star Conference, leading the all-academic teams.
