LAWTON, Okla. - The Lubbock Christian University Baseball team picked up an opening day win, beating Cameron 9-8 on the road Friday afternoon.
Carson Ogilvie and
Chris Shull each hit homeruns and drove in two runs to lead the LCU offense.
Aydan Alger picked up the win on the mound for LCU, going five innings and only giving up one earned run.
Scoring Summary
1st Inning:
- LCU jumped out to an early lead with a Shull two run homer to right center field.
- The Aggies cut the lead to 2-1 with an RBI ground out by Drew Durst. Later in the inning, CU tied the game with a Wyatt Grant RBI double.
2nd Inning:
- The Chaps reclaimed the lead when
Hayden Blair hit a double. A CU throwing error allowed Blair to advance to third and
Rhett Clark to score.

Frayner Chavez extended the lead with a single, bringing home Blair.
3rd Inning:
- LCU broke the game open taking a 7-2 lead when Blair singled. A CU error allowed
Jarred Gibson,
Rhett Clark, and Shull to score.

Carson Ogilvie extended the Chap lead with a two run homer.
6th Inning:
- CU cut the LCU lead with a Spencer Simpson two RBI single.
- A passed ball allowed the Aggies to score another run.
7th Inning:
- Grant hit a two run homer to make the game 9-7.
- The Aggies added another run when Hunter Smith grounded into a fielder's choice. Kody Bigford scored.
Game Notes:
- Alger faced 22 batters, striking out four and allowing no walks.
- Ogilvie, Shull, and Blair had two RBIs each.
- Shull and Blair lead the Chaps with two hits each.
- Coleson Abel pitched 2.2 innings out of the bullpen for LCU. He allowed three hits and struck out two Cameron batters.
- The Chaps move to 1-0 on the season.
