Chaps Host Regis for Nonconference Series this Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas –  The Lubbock Christian University Baseball team welcomes the Regis Rangers to the Hub City this weekend for a two-game nonconference series.

The Series Schedule – No. 22 LCU (17-7) vs Regis (11-8-1)
Hays Field – Lubbock, Texas
Friday (Mar. 15)  – 4 p.m.
Saturday (Mar. 16)  – 2 p.m.

Around the Horn
  • The Chaps come into the series with a 17-7 overall record and have won nine consecutive games.
  • LCU is ranked 22nd in this week's NCBWA Division II National Poll.
  • LCU is hitting .346 with 195 RBIs and 37 home runs this season.

The Series
Friday will be the 7th meeting all-time between the Chaps and Rangers. LCU and Regis have split the previous six games. The two teams last meet in the 2018 season, where the Rangers won three of four over LCU.

  • Regis is off to a 11-8-1 start to the season, winning a four-game series against Adams State last weekend.
  • The Rangers are in their 1st season with Head Coach Pat Jolley at the helm.

  • Adam Paniagua is leading the Rangers at the plate this season, coming into the weekend with a .449 batting average, nine home runs, and 28 RBIs.
  • The Ranger pitching staff comes into the series with a 7.54 ERA and 165 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .305 against Ranger pitchers.
