Maxine Valdez was two outs away from her seventh career no-hitter before Cameron claimed their first hit of the game, but Valdez claimed her third one-hitter of the season with a complete game shutout in a 3-0 Lady Chaparrals victory to open a three-game Lone Star Conference series at McMahon Field. Cameron would bounce back to split the doubleheader with a 9-6 win over the Lady Chaps in the second game.
GAME 1 | Lubbock Christian 3, Cameron 0
Maxine Valdez was dealing on Monday, flinging a one-hit shutout to lead LCU past the Aggies 3-0. Valdez (8-5) went the distance for Lubbock Christian giving up one hit, walking two and striking out four. She went 6.1 innings of no-hit ball.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Chaps scored early, as
Ally Oyanguren produced a two-run double for a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a ball hit deep to left field. LCU added a run in the seventh inning with
Bailey Hughes hitting a pinch-hit double to complete the game's scoring.
GAME NOTES
» Valdez tossed her third one-hit shutout this season. She pitched a no-hitter last season in the regular season against the Aggies. The complete game was her 27
th career complete game (seventh of the season) and the shutout marked the 13
th complete-game shutout of her career (third this season).

Bailey Hughes hit her fifth pinch-hit base hit of the season. She is 5-for-11 (.455) in a pinch-hit role and her five pinch-hit hits leads LCU.

An outstanding offensive output was not enough for Lubbock Christian in the second game. LCU put up six runs, but could not hold Cameron at bay, and were defeated 9-6.
Starting pitcher
Teoni Lamb suffered the loss in the circle for LCU (20-16,19-13), as she was one of three pitchers to take the circle for LCU.
At the plate, the Chaparrals were led by
Baylea Myers, who went 1-for-3 in the game with a home run and two RBI.
Ally Oyanguren compiled a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
Tiarra Delrosario also contributed for Lubbock Christian, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Chaps were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning (Cameron put up a run in the first and second inning) when they first put runs on the board. Lubbock Christian plated a run on a based-loaded walk issued to
Kamryn Gibbs.
Kelsye Loughman extended the lead back to a two-run margin for the Aggies with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to answer Gibbs' walk. LCU was able to rally back and tie the score at 3-3 in the fifth inning.
Tiarra Delrosario hit a double, which turned into a little league home run, as a mis-throw towards second base, as Delrosario was sliding into second base, ended up in the right-centerfield gap and Delrosario scored off the error to tie the game.
Cameron broke that tie and grabbed a 7-3 lead with a four-run fifth inning. Kelsey Creech capped the scoring with a two-run double. LCU was able to close the gap to 7-6 in the top of the sixth inning, as Oyanguren (solo) and Myers (two-run) each homered. The Lady Chaps were unable to get any closer, as Cameron added two runs for insurance in the bottom half of the inning.
GAME NOTES
» The loss was LCU's first of the season when scoring at least six runs (15-1).
» The home run for Oyanguren was her sixth of the season and the 11
th of her LCU career. Myers, a first-year Lady Chap, connected on her fourth home run of the season.
» Myers led the Chaparrals at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
» Cameron was led offensively by Loughman, who went 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run and two RBI.

Kamryn Gibbs had a hit in each game and closed the day leading LCU actively with a five-game hit streak.
» Delrosario produced her team-leading 14
th multi-hit game of the season, as she was 2-for-3 in the contest at the plate. She was 4-for-7 (.571) on the day.
Ally Oyanguren was 3-for-6 on the day with three RBI, as she picked up her team-leading seventh multi-RBI game of the season.
HISTORICAL NOTE
The doubleheader split has LCU leading the all-time series 7-6 and LCU is 4-2 all-time in games played at McMahon Field in Lawton.

Inclement weather is expected Tuesday in Lawton, but the two teams are scheduled to complete their LSC series with a noon rubber match at McMahon Field.
