LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals begin their 2024 postseason journey at home this weekend in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament. The top-seeded Chaps will take on St. Edward's in a best of three series with the winner advancing to the LSC Championship Finals (May 9-11).

• The Chaps finished the regular season with a 36-14 overall record and won the Lone Star Conference regular season title.

The Series
The Chaps and Hilltoppers square off for the 72^nd time on Friday. LCU has controlled the series, going 40-32 all-time against SEU. The two teams met a few weeks ago in Lubbock, with LCU taking the series three games to one.
 
A Look at the Hilltoppers

• St. Edward's finished in eighth place in the LSC with a 23-27 overall record.
• The Hilltoppers finished the regular season with a series split with Texas A&M International last weekend, dropping the final game 7-6.  
• SEU is in the 1^st season with Head Coach Ryan Femath at the helm.
• The Hilltoppers have outscored their opponents 358 to 335 this season.
• SEU is hitting .289 with 313 RBIs and 50 homers this season.
• Davis Drewek is leading the Hilltoppers at the plate this season, closing out the regular season with a .331 batting average, 13 home runs, and 49 RBIs.

LCU in the LSC Tournament
LCU has advanced to the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament every season it's been a part of the league (no tournament in 2020 due to Covid-19). In their three tournament appearances, LCU has advanced past the opening weekend twice, sweeping West Texas A&M last season and beating Texas A&M Kingsville 2-1 in 2021. In total, LCU is 8-9 in LSC tournament games.

The winner of the three-game series will advance to the Lone Star Conference Championship Finals. The highest remaining seed after the opening round of the LSC Championship Tournament will host the double-elimination finals. Game times are still TBD.
