LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals continue their 2024 postseason journey at home this weekend in the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament Finals. The top-seeded Chaps will take on 4th-Seeded UT Permian Basin Thursday night to open the double-elimination portion of the tournament.

• The Chaps finished the regular season with a 36-14 overall record and won the Lone Star Conference regular season title.  
• LCU opened the LSC tournament by sweeping the best of three series against St. Edward's last weekend.
• LCU is ranked 4^th in this week's ABCA National Poll and 5^th in the NCBWA National Poll.
• The Chaps were ranked 1^st in the latest NCAA and NCBWA South Central Regional Poll.

The Series vs UTPB
The Chaps and Falcons square off for the 44^th time on Thursday. LCU has dominated the series, going 34-9 all-time against UTPB. The Falcons came to Hays Field in early February and took 3-of-4 games from the Chaps.
 
A Look at the Falcons

• UTPB finished fourth in the LSC with a 30-20 regular season record, they beat UT Tyler in the opening series of the LSC tournament.
• The Falcons are in the 2^nd season with Head Coach Gabe Grinder at the helm.
• UTPB has outscored their opponents 473 to 382 this season.
• As a team, the Falcons are hitting .343 with 430 RBIs and 48 homers in 2024.
• Ethan Flodstrom is leading the Falcons at the plate this season, coming into the weekend with a .397 batting average, four home runs, and 60 RBIs.

LCU in the LSC Tournament
LCU has advanced to the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament every season it's been a part of the league (no tournament in 2020 due to Covid-19). In their three tournament appearances, LCU has advanced past the opening weekend three times, sweeping St. Edward's this season, sweeping West Texas A&M last season, and beating Texas A&M Kingsville 2-1 in 2021. In total, LCU is 10-9 in LSC tournament games.
