Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas (September 8, 2024) – The Lubbock Christian University men's tennis program participated in split-squad work this weekend to open individual competition for the 2024-25 campaign, as the Chaps had members competing at the Brother Al Invitational in San Antonio, Texas (hosted by St. Mary's) and in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area competing in the Dallas Baptist (DBU) Invitational.

In San Antonio, the Chaps were represented in the top-five flight finals, with three singles flight-champions claimed. In doubles, LCU was represented in both of the flight finals.

Pablo Segura won Flight 2 in singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Alexandre Frigout of St. Mary's. LCU also claimed titles in Flight 4 (Andres De Los Rios with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lincoln Baldonado of StMU) and in Flight 5 (Tristan Vigneron with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Ian Friere of StMU). LCU's Blas Ruiz and Jordan Georgiev each competed in Flight 3 and made it to the Flight Final, but each abandoned to not face each other. Mattia Ghedin made it to the Flight Final in Flight 1, but fell in a tough competition against Our Lady of the Lake's David Ekpenyong, as Ghedin fell in a tiebreaker 10-5 (7-6 [7-4], 5-7).

In doubles play, Ghedin and Kelly Giese fell in the final of Flight A 7-6, dropping the tiebreaker 8-6 to Our Lady of the Lake. In Flight B, LCU's Segura and Georgiev dropped the final to St. Mary's.

A full breakdown recap with statistics will be posted once finalized statistics have been received, as statistics from the DBU Invitational are incomplete.
