Thursday, the Lady Chaps extended its win streak to seven games with a dominant 72-52 victory over Oklahoma Christian in Lone Star Conference play at Rip Griffin Center.
Grace Foster led the Lady Chaps with 24 points, four steals, and four blocks, while
Audrey Robertson and
Maci Maddox added 15 points each. The trio combined for 75% of LCU's scoring, shooting 64% from the field and going a perfect 16-of-16 from the free-throw line. LCU's defense forced 14 turnovers, converting them into 21 points, and held OC to 32.7% shooting, including just 13.3% from three-point range. The Lady Chaps started fast with a 10-0 opening run and never trailed, improving to 8-0 at home and 17-3 overall. The win marked LCU's 22nd straight victory over OC, extending their all-time series lead to 33-29.

Foster's 1,708 career points ranks eighth among active NCAA Division II players and places her within striking distance of the program's all-time top five scorers; she needs 18 points to overtake Emily Pool (Atkins) for fifth place. In addition, Foster has 767 career rebounds, which has her ranking fifth in program history. She needs 72 rebounds to pass Darla Lynch (838, 1979-83) to move into fourth in program history.
Audrey Robertson (sitting with 1,244 career points) joined Foster in the 1,000-point club in career points on Nov. 3, and
Maci Maddox reached the mark Jan. 9 becoming LCU's third active player with 1,000 career points (has 1,052). It marks the first time since the 2015-16 season that LCU has had a trio of 1,000-point scorers, following the legendary group of Haley Fowler, Nicole Hampton, and Kelsey Hoppel.

The 2024-25 season marks LCU's 12th since leaving the NAIA and LCU is 304-60 record (83.5%) in that span. In NCAA postseason play, the Lady Chaps are 24-4 all-time (85.7%).

Lubbock Christian University's women's basketball team entered the 2024-25 season ranked No. 17 in the D2CSC Women's Basketball Division II Top-25 Preseason Poll, a notable return to national prominence after an unusual preseason absence last year. They were receiving votes in the WBCA Preseason Poll (Division II).
In the latest polls, for both national Division II polling organizations, LCU is ranked No14 by the D2CSC and No.18 by the WBCA. LCU is 1-3 against nationally ranked programs this season and each have been against programs in the top-10 nationally.

1 > Cameron's season has been a challenging one, as the Aggies hold a 2-14 overall record and remain winless in Lone Star Conference play at 0-12. The team's struggles have been highlighted by a 12-game losing streak, including a 1-8 record at home and a 1-6 mark on the road. The Aggies opened the season with a promising 69-59 road win against East Central and followed it up with an 82-78 home victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State. However, since their second win, Cameron has faced difficulties closing out games, losing several contests by narrow margins. Notable close losses include a 70-73 defeat to Angelo State, a 62-64 setback against UT Tyler, and a 69-71 loss at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Ten of their 14 losses have been in single digits.
2 > Cameron's Shamica Smith has been a dominant force on the boards, ranking third in the Lone Star Conference with 9.5 rebounds per game. Her ability to clean the glass includes 6.6 defensive rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the LSC.

Additionally, she has made a significant impact in field goals, ranking 36th nationally and third in the conference with a field goal percentage of 53.9%.

The Lady Chaps, who have faced Cameron twice in each of the prior four seasons, have claimed the prior nine meetings. Lubbock Christian University rallied from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to secure a 56-50 Lone Star Conference victory over Cameron at Rip Griffin Center.
Audrey Robertson led LCU with 20 points, while
Kennedy Chappell added 12 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.
Reese Schumann posted a career-high 18 rebounds, along with eight points and two blocks. Lubbock Christian's defense was key, limiting Cameron to just 9.1% shooting from beyond the arc (1-for-11) and outrebounding the Aggies 38-32.
Cameron was led by Shamica Smith, who scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Smith was the lone Aggie to score in double figures.
The Aggies jumped to an early lead, holding LCU to 18.8% shooting in the first quarter and taking an 11-8 advantage. They extended their lead to 26-21 at halftime, with Smith scoring 15 of Cameron's 26 first-half points. After the break, Cameron built a 32-25 lead, but Lubbock Christian mounted a rally, eventually tying the game at 38-38 entering the fourth quarter.
In the final period, LCU capitalized on three Cameron turnovers, going on a 7-0 run to take a 49-42 lead with 4:58 remaining. Robertson and Chappell combined for 13 points in the quarter, helping LCU outscore the Aggies 18-12 to secure the win.
