ABILENE, Texas (January 25, 2025) – The Lubbock Christian University men's tennis team opened its spring slate Saturday with an exhibition match against NCAA Division I Abilene Christian at the Eager Tennis Center. The Chaparrals fell 6-1 to the Wildcats, with their lone victory coming in singles play.

Mattia Ghedin delivered a hard-fought win at No. 2 singles, rallying for a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over ACU's Merse Deli. The Chaparrals also claimed a victory in doubles action at the No. 3 spot, with Ghedin teaming up with
Marco Seccia for a 6-3 triumph. However, the Wildcats secured the doubles point after wins at the top two positions and captured five of six singles matches, including four straight-set victories.
The Chaps, who are receiving votes in the national top-25 polls, will continue their exhibition schedule next weekend with two neutral-site matches at Texas Tech's McLeod Tennis Center. They are slated to face UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, followed by New Mexico State on Sunday. LCU will officially resume regular season play on Friday, Feb. 7, when they take their 2-1 record into Kearney, Neb., to face Concordia (Neb.).
