No. 15 Lady Chaps Look to Stay Perfect at Home and in West Division Play Against ENMU

LUBBOCK, Texas (February 1, 2025) – The No. 15 Lady Chaparrals are on a roll, riding a nine-game win streak as they look to stay perfect at home (10-0) and in West Division play (8-0). LCU, which shares the top spot in the Lone Star Conference (13-1), will wrap up a four-game homestand and its home-and-home regular season series against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center.

IN RANGE
Grace Foster dominated with 30 points and 14 rebounds as No. 15 Lubbock Christian University secured a 59-44 victory over West Texas A&M, completing a regular-season sweep in the Rivalry on the Range. The Lady Chaps (19-3, 13-1) extended their win streak to nine and remained unbeaten at home (10-0) and in West Division play (8-0).
Foster's performance marked her eighth double-double of the season, and she became the first Lady Chap to score 30 points against WT. Maci Maddox added 10 points and four assists, while Kennedy Chappell contributed seven points and two steals. LCU controlled the boards 39-32 and held WT to 33.3% shooting, including 1-of-17 from three-point range. The Lady Chaps have now won four straight against WT and lead the all-time series 12-6.

1 > Grace's Greatness: Grace Foster continues her standout season, recording a 30-point, 14-rebound double-double against West Texas A&M. She leads the LSC in scoring (20.5 PPG, ninth nationally), free throws made (107, ninth nationally), and defensive rebounds per game (7.4, 15th nationally). Foster also ranks second in the LSC in blocks (42) and free throw percentage (88.4%).
 
2 > Maddox Magic: Maci Maddox remains elite in ball control, leading the LSC and ranking third nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.94). She ranks second in the conference in assists per game (4.1) and total assists (91). Maddox also logged double figures in 14 games this season (including the last five games played), including 10 points and four assists vs. WT.  
 
3 > Defensive Lockdown: LCU's defense is one of the best in Division II, ranking 12th nationally in scoring defense (53.7 PPG) and third in the LSC. The Lady Chaps also lead the conference in blocks per game (4.4) and rank 26th nationally in field goal percentage defense (35.0%).

MILESTONING 
Grace Foster continues to cement her place in Lubbock Christian University history, surpassing 1,500 career points—a milestone last reached by Allie Schulte on Feb. 3, 2022. Foster's 1,760 career points ranks eighth among active NCAA Division II players and last Saturday she moved into fourth all-time in career scoring for the Lady Chaps. She passed Emily Pool (Atkins) (1,725, 2010-14) and Tess Bruffey (1,728, 2014-18) to jump into the fourth spot. Foster is eight points away from moving past Jordan Hampton, who had 1,767 points from 2005-09. Nicole Hampton is LCU's all-time scoring leader with 1,796 points (2011-16), and Foster is 37 points away from the top spot in program history. In addition, Foster has 791 career rebounds, which has her ranking fifth in program history. She needs 48 rebounds to pass Darla Lynch (838, 1979-83) to move into fourth in program history.  Audrey Robertson (sitting with 1,257 career points) joined Foster in the 1,000-point club in career points on Nov. 3, and Maci Maddox reached the mark Jan. 9 becoming LCU's third active player with 1,000 career points (has 1,077). It marks the first time since the 2015-16 season that LCU has had a trio of 1,000-point scorers, following the legendary group of Haley Fowler, Nicole Hampton, and Kelsey Hoppel.
 
CONFERENCE CONVERSATION 
Lubbock Christian University holds a 13-1 record in Lone Star Conference play, tying them for the best conference mark while maintaining a perfect 8-0 record in West Division play. The Lady Chaps (19-3) remain unbeaten at home (10-0) and have won nine straight games. Grace Foster leads LCU, averaging 19.6 points (second in the LSC) and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 54.8% from the field, 50.7% from three-point range (first in the LSC), and 90.5% from the free-throw line (second in the LSC). Audrey Robertson adds 11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 40.0% from three-point range. Maci Maddox contributes 11.0 points per game and leads the LSC in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.5). LCU ranks third in the LSC in scoring defense (52.4 PPG) and leads the conference in three-point percentage (37.3%) and blocks per game (4.6). The Lady Chaps also rank third in the LSC in free-throw percentage (79.7%) and have a +14.9 scoring margin (second in LSC).

The Lady Chaps remain dominant in West Division play, improving to 8-0 with an even split of home (4-0) and road (4-0) victories. They hold a +18.3 scoring margin, averaging 71.0 points per game while limiting opponents to 52.8 points per contest. LCU showcases efficiency with 45.6% shooting from the field, 37.4% from three-point range, and 85.3% at the free-throw line. Grace Foster leads the way, averaging 22.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting 56.5% from the field, 53.5% from three, and 91.7% from the line. She's supported by Maci Maddox (13.0 PPG, 4.1 assists per game) and Audrey Robertson (12.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 42.1% 3PT). Defensively, the Lady Chaps hold a +4.3 rebounding margin (36.8 RPG), force 12.1 turnovers per game, and average 6.1 steals and 4.3 blocks per game. The Lady Chaps are averaging 71.8 points per game at home while limiting opponents to just 50.6 points, boasting a +21.2 scoring margin. Offensively, LCU is shooting 44.1% from the field, 39.6% from three-point range, and 80.4% at the free-throw line, averaging 15.2 made free throws per game. Defensively, they have held opponents to 33.1% shooting and own a +5.1 rebounding margin, collecting 38.2 boards per game. Grace Foster leads the charge, averaging 22.0 points and 7.9 rebounds at home while shooting 58.8% from the field, 55.6% from three, and 87.7% from the line. Audrey Robertson adds 10.7 points per game, while Maci Maddox contributes 11.0. LCU has averaged 15.5 assists per game at home with a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio, 4.3 blocks, and 7.0 steals. On Feb. 2, 2023, LCU's NCAA Division II record home win streak ended at 113 games with a loss to Angelo State. The defeat marked the Lady Chaps' first home loss since Jan. 1, 2015, against Oklahoma City University. During the streak, LCU also posted a 7-0 record in NCAA postseason play in Lubbock (excluding a 4-0 mark in LSC postseason play) and won 88 consecutive home conference games, with their last conference home loss occurring on Jan. 10, 2013, also against Oklahoma City. LCU achieved a perfect 49-0 record in Heartland Conference home games and went 11-0 against nationally ranked opponents during the streak.

EYE-OPENING
The 2024-25 season marks LCU's 12th since leaving the NAIA and LCU is 306-60 record (83.6%) in that span. In NCAA postseason play, the Lady Chaps are 24-4 all-time (85.7%).
 
BACK IN THE RANKINGS
Lubbock Christian University's women's basketball team entered the 2024-25 season ranked No. 17 in the D2CSC Women's Basketball Division II Top-25 Preseason Poll, a notable return to national prominence after an unusual preseason absence last year. They were receiving votes in the WBCA Preseason Poll (Division II).
 
In the latest polls, for both national Division II polling organizations, LCU is ranked No15 by the D2CSC and No.17 by the WBCA. LCU is 1-3 against nationally ranked programs this season and each have been against programs in the top-10 nationally.
 
FIVE THINGS ABOUT ENMU
1 > The Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds have had a solid 2024-25 season, posting a 13-7 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Lone Star Conference play (tied for sixth in LSC), placing them tied for fourth in the West Division standings (4-4). ENMU opened the season with a 10-1 record overall and 5-0 mark in Lone Star Conference play, which were program records. The Greyhounds have excelled at home, holding an 8-2 record inside Greyhound Arena, including dominant wins over West Texas A&M (74-57) and Cameron (82-54). They've also demonstrated their ability to compete on the road, securing victories against Texas A&M International (63-56) and Texas A&M-Kingsville (56-48). ENMU has shown flashes of brilliance on offense, highlighted by a season-high 129 points in a blowout victory against Navajo Tech. They claimed a win in the final seconds in Wichita Falls, Texas Thursday, with a 70-69 win over Midwestern State to end a three-game losing streak.

2 > Eastern New Mexico's bench has been a key factor in their success, leading the Lone Star Conference and ranking seventh nationally with an impressive 33.5 bench points per game.

3 > ENMU is second in the LSC and ranks 53rd nationally in turnovers forced per game, averaging 19.9 takeaways. This aggressive defensive style has helped them maintain a scoring margin of +11.1, good for fourth in the conference.

4 > Eastern New Mexico ranks second in the LSC and 28th nationally in three-point shooting percentage, hitting 34.6% from beyond the arc. Their overall offensive efficiency is reflected in a 42.2% field goal percentage, placing them fifth in the conference.

5 > Ishuana Hunter is the heartbeat of the Greyhounds, contributing significantly on both ends of the floor. She ranks 11th in the LSC in steals per game (1.81) and is 12th in field goal percentage (44.9%). She averages 11.4 points per game on the season.
 
THE SERIES AGAINST ENMU

The Hounds own a 24-23 all-time advantage against the Lady Chaps, but LCU has won 19 of the last 22 meetings. ENMU's win on Jan. 16, 2020 (69-68 in overtime in Portales, N.M.) ended a six-game win streak in the series for LCU, but LCU has responded with eight consecutive wins in the series, including a 59-53 win in Portales on Jan. 3. The Lady Chaps are 13-3 all-time against ENMU under head coach Steve Gomez. LCU is 8-3 all-time in Lubbock (8-4 if an exhibition game from 1988 is included).

PRIOR MEETING AGAINST ENMU

PORTALES (Jan. 3, 2025) – LCU 59– ENMU 53
Grace Foster's clutch three-pointer and defensive heroics lifted No. 7 Lubbock Christian University to a 59-53 road victory over Eastern New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action at Greyhound Arena.
 
Foster posted her fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while her late-game contributions helped the Lady Chaps snap a two-game skid and end ENMU's unbeaten conference start.
 
Trailing 43-38 early in the fourth quarter, the Lady Chaps (11-3, 5-1 LSC, 2-0 West Division) mounted an 8-0 run sparked by Audrey Robertson's three-pointer. LCU outscored the Greyhounds 11-4 in the final three minutes, capped by Foster's decisive three-pointer with 20 seconds left. She then sealed the game with a critical block on ENMU's ensuing possession. Robertson added 11 of her 13 points in the second half, while Kennedy Chappell was perfect from the line in the fourth quarter and contributed 10 points.
 
ENMU (10-2, 5-1 LSC, 1-1 West Division) struggled offensively, finishing 0-of-3 from three-point range and shooting 36.4% from the field. The Greyhounds, led by Ishuana Hunter's 20 points and Julieta Ceja's double-double (12 rebounds, 11 points), posted season lows in scoring (53 points) and bench points (18).
 
Despite shooting just 34% from the field, LCU's defense carried the day. They held ENMU without a basket over the final 3:18, recorded six blocks, and out-rebounded the Greyhounds 38-35, marking the first time ENMU was out-rebounded this season. Foster's 11 boards moved her into fifth in LCU's all-time rebounding list with 735 career rebounds.
