IN THEIR DEFENSE
Lubbock Christian notched its third shutout of the season on Wednesday and is now more than halfway to their 2024 season total of five shutouts. LCU is now allowing an average of just 0.88 goals per game, which is tied for the second-best mark in the conference. Chap opponents are averaging just 11.5 shots per game and have put only 34 on goal for a shots on goal percentage of .370. Senior captain
Geoffroy Letienne anchors the back line with a team-leading 697 minutes played.
HE'S A KEEPER
Senior goalkeeper
Connor Pettigrew was key in the shutout effort on Wednesday as well, making a season-high six saves. The last time he made at least six saves was on Oct. 23, 2024, against West Texas A&M, when he had seven. The Frisco native has played all 720 minutes this season in goal, posting a 0.875 goals against average and a .788 save percentage, both of which are tied for third in the conference. He has 26 saves overall against 92 shots faced and last week was named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. In his fourth season with the Chaps Pettigrew has an all-time record of 9-13-7 in 31 games played.
LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
Wednesday was night one of the conference slate of games for men's soccer teams in the LSC. UT Dallas, DBU and St. Edward's were all winners in their matches, putting them in a three-way tie for first. The losers in those contests were UT Tyler, Oklahoma Christian and Midwestern State. Four other teams tied, and Sul Ross was idle. Midwestern State was the team picked to win the league and came into the week ranked No. 18 nationally – the only national ranking of any LSC team.
SHOOTING STARS
Despite their recent offensive struggles, Lubbock Christian has not been without its chances, taking 110 shots overall, which is the fourth-most in the conference. Fourteen of those came on Wednesday against St. Mary's, marking the second-most shots allowed by the Rattlers in a single game this season. Of the total, 38 have been on goal for a shots on goal percentage of 34.5. Nunez and
Pedro Lucas rank third and fourth in the conference in shots on goal per game with 2.63 and 2.50, respectively.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
LCU is 1-2-1 in road games on the young season, the lone win coming by a score of 5-0 at Adams Sate on the first weekend of the season. In 2024, the Chaps went 3-3-2 in road games. The last time they had more wins than losses in road games was the 2023 season, when they were 3-1-4. Their best season on the road was in 2013, when they went 6-2-0. Lewis-Chen Family Field is the home for the St. Edward's men's and women's soccer stadiums, featuring a natural Bermuda grass playing surface.
FRESH FACES
If you haven't seen the LCU men in action yet this season, you might not recognized a lot of the faces on the field. In both transfers and high school recruits, Lubbock Christian added 19 new players. Seven of the players are transfers from other schools and 11 are fresh out of high school. Three players transferred from Division I schools and made a significant impact this season, including
Joao Catafesta (New Hampshire),
Pedro Lucas (Albany) and
Augusto Militao (Missouri-Kansas City).
SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
- St. Edward's is averaging 1.875 goals per game so far this season, which is the third-most in the conference
- Brian Young is in his 19th season leading the SEU program, posting an all-time record of 180-123-43

- In goal, SEU has split time almost down the middle, using Kaleo Perez-Francis and Angel Ramirez. Ramirez has the slightly better save percentage and has notched the only SEU shutout this year
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD
- Be the 122nd in Lubbock Christian program history (121-105-40)
- Be the 20th under head coach
Collin Cone (19-24-8)
- Be the Chaps' third-ever win against St. Edward's since the all-time series began in 2013 (2-5-3)
