CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • With a late-game winner against West Texas A&M on Saturday, Lubbock Christian University advanced to the semifinals of the LSC Tournament, where they take on St. Edward's on Wednesday
  • LCU had seven players honored with LSC Postseason awards, including Defensive Player of the Year and First Team Selection Geoffroy Letienne
  • Lubbock Christian finished the regular season third in the LSC standings, after being picked sixth in the league's preseason poll in August
  • After making four saves against Sul Ross and earning his sixth shutout of the year, Connor Pettigrew was named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week
  • The Chaps and Hilltoppers met once during the regular season, with LCU earning a 3-2, come-from-behind win in Austin on October 4, 2025

AWARD CENTRAL
Seven Chaparrals were recognized on Tuesday for their performance this season with Lone Star Conference Postseason awards. Senior Geoffroy Letienne highlighted the group, earning Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection. Four Chaps – Joao Catafesta, Francisco Horta Jaramillo, Manu Nunez and Connor Pettigrew – were recognized on the All-LSC Second Team. Pettigrew was also named to the All-Academic team for the second-straight year. Adam Davison and Jack Brassey were named to the league's All-Freshman team.

HE'S A KEEPER
Pettigrew ended the 2025 regular season on a high note, earning his sixth shutout of the year in a tie against Sul Ross and winning the league's final Goalkeeper of the Week award in the process. This is the second time Pettigrew has been recognized this season and the fifth time for a Chaparral to be honored by the conference overall. He finished the regular season with an conference-high 62 saves and added five more to that total in the win against West Texas A&M. He has a goals against average of 0.94 and a save percentage of .795. He has played 42 games in his four-year LCU career, posting a career record of 15-15-9.

LCU AT THE LSC TOURNAMENT
This is Lubbock Christian's fourth appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament since joining the league for the 2019-20 school year after a two-year hiatus. They previously reached the postseason in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and they are 3-2-1 all-time at the LSC Tournament. Their win on Saturday was their first in the postseason since Nov. 12, 2021. The 2021 season was LCU's most successful in the tournament, as they won two games and played to a PK shootout in the conference championship game, where Midwestern State claimed the title.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
The Chaparrals scored twice to beat the Buffs, marking the seventh time this season they have netted multiple goals in a single game. The scores came from Letienne, whose only previous score came from a PK, and Augusto Militao, who scored for the second time this season. LCU is averaging just 1.11 goals per game this season, which is the third-lowest mark in the conference. Nine different LCU players have scored at least once this season, led by Horta's five goals.

IN THEIR DEFENSE
Lubbock Chrisitan closed out the regular season with a shutout of Sul Ross, notching its sixth clean sheet of the season, which surpassed their total from the 2024 season. The last time an LCU team had more than five shutouts in a season was 2023, when they had seven. Lubbock Christian is allowing just 0.94 goals per game this year, which ranks third in the league. Chap opponents are averaging just 12.7 shots per game and have put only 84 on goal for a shots on goal percentage of .368. If the season ended today, LCU's goals against average of 1.00 would be the lowest for the team in the last 10 years, which is as far back as data is available.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
LCU went 3-3-3 in road games during the regular season with wins at Adams State, St. Edward's and West Texas A&M. In 2024, the Chaps went 3-3-2 in road games. The last time they had more wins than losses in road games was the 2023 season, when they were 3-1-4. Their best season on the road was in 2013, when they went 6-2-0. Lewis-Chen Family Field is the home for the St. Edward's men's and women's soccer stadiums, featuring a natural Bermuda grass playing surface.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET
The matchup with St. Edward's during the regular season was a true turning point for the Chaps. Having gone their previous six straight games without scoring a goal, LCU fell behind 2-0 in the first half in Austin. But Aron DePaul put the Chaps on the board early in the second half and Jack Brassey tied the game in the 81st minute. Then with just five minutes left to play, Kade McKinzie found the back of the net to earn LCU a come-from-behind win.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
  • St. Edward's earned the No. 2 seed with a 6-2-2 conference record and 20 league points
  • Two keepers have split time this season for SEU, led by Angel Ramirez with 35 save and a .700 save percentage
  • The Hilltoppers have the second-best offense in the Lone Star Conference, averaging 1.77 goals per game
  • SEU has the second-worst defense in the league, allowing an average of 1.53 goals per game
  • Seven different Hilltoppers have scored multiple times this season, led by Filip Adamski's six goals

A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD
- Be the 127th in Lubbock Christian program history (126-108-41)
- Be the 26th under head coach Collin Cone (25-25-10)
- Be the Chaps' fourth win against St. Edward's since the all-time series with the Hilltoppers began in 2013 (3-5-3)
