Natalee Gray Becomes LCU’s First LSC Freshman of the Week Helping LCU to Record-Tying Performance

RICHARDSON, Texas (February 11, 2025) – In the inaugural season of the Lone Star Conference's Freshman of the Week award, Natalee Gray has become Lubbock Christian University's first honoree, earning the recognition for her standout performance last week.

Gray delivered a record-tying performance in Lubbock Christian's dominant 11-2 victory over Adams State on February 8, striking out 12 batters over five innings while allowing just three hits, zero earned runs, and a .158 opponent batting average. Gray's 12 strikeouts marked the third consecutive game that an LCU pitcher recorded at least 10 strikeouts, tying a program record that had not been accomplished since the inaugural 2008 season. The freshman from Burkburnett, Texas was particularly dominant with runners in scoring position, holding Adams State hitters to 0-for-7 in those situations. Despite working around five walks, Gray kept her composure and shut down the Grizzlies, recording multiple strikeouts in four of her five innings.

She is 2-1 on the season with a 3.82 ERA and has 15 strikeouts in 11.0 innings pitched. Gray is the first Lady Chaps member recognized with a weekly honor this season.

The Lady Chaps are riding an eight-game win streak and are 9-1 overall, as they enter their Lone Star Conference opening weekend. LCU opens LSC play Friday hosting Cameron (4 p.m. doubleheader) and follows hosting Oklahoma Christian Sunday (1 p.m. doubleheader) at Maner Park.
