CHAP-TIVATING START: LCU Sweeps Cameron to Open Conference Play

Lady Chaps Dominate Cameron in Conference Opener, Extend Win Streak to 10

LUBBOCK, Texas (February 14, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University kicked off their Lone Star Conference schedule with a sweep of Cameron Friday at Maner Park, securing a 15-6 run-rule victory in five innings and a 5-1 win to extend their winning streak to 10 games.

Game 1
Senior Kristen Boyd racked up four RBIs to help lead the Lady Chaparrals past the Cameron Aggies 15-6 in the opener.

Senior Emily Dix (3-0) got the win for Lubbock Christian (10-1, 1-0). The right-hander went 4.1 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits and striking out seven batters. Kendall Ward provided 0.2 innings of scoreless relief to close out the game

Boyd went 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and a walk in addition to her four RBIs for the Chaparrals. Kendra Levesque put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and three RBI. Riley Flores also chipped in for Lubbock Christian, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, two walks and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
LCU wasted no time grabbing an early lead, striking for three runs in the bottom of the first. After Baylea Myers doubled with two outs, Yaya Kaaialii followed with an RBI double to open the scoring. Kendra Levesque then launched a two-run home run to right-center to put the Lady Chaps up 3-0.

Cameron (3-2) responded with solo home runs in the second and third innings, first from Madysen Boutwell and then from Mia Garcia, cutting the deficit to 3-2. However, LCU extended its lead with three runs in the bottom of the third, aided by a Cameron error and a bases-loaded walk to Kristen Boyd. Riley Flores capped the inning with an RBI walk, pushing the score to 6-2.

The Lady Chaps broke the game open in the fourth, plating four more runs. Boyd's sacrifice fly and Bailey Hughes' two-run single highlighted the frame as LCU surged ahead 10-2.

Cameron made things interesting in the top of the fifth with a four-run outburst. A three-run homer from Kaiden Boren and an RBI single from Kelsey Creech trimmed LCU's lead to 10-6. But the Lady Chaps quickly put the game out of reach with a five-run bottom half, punctuated by Boyd's two-run homer and a pair of RBI doubles from Flores and Myers.

GAME NOTES
» Dix struck out seven Aggies hitters and now has 28 strikeouts in 17.2 innings for a pace of 11.1 per seven innings.

» The Lady Chaps power output was led by Boyd, who had two extra base hits in the ballgame. Her four RBI was a season-best mark.

» It was fitting that New Mexico State Aggie transfers Krissy Boyd and Kendra Levesque each hit their first home runs as Lady Chaps against a team called the "Aggies." Boyd's homer marked the seventh of her career, while Levesque recorded her fifth.

» LCU out-hit the Aggies at an 11-9 clip.

» Lubbock Christian went 7-for-12 (.583) with runners in scoring position.

» The Chaparrals drew six walks from Cameron pitching.

» Cameron was led offensively by senior Kelsey Creech, who went 2-for-3 with two triples and an RBI.

» Tinley Schmidgall (1-1) took the loss for Cameron, surrendering 10 runs—only three earned—on eight hits across 3.2 innings.

Game 2
Lubbock Christian University continued its dominant start to the season with a 5-1 victory over Cameron on Friday night at Maner Park.

The Lady Chaps rode a strong pitching performance from Teoni Lamb, who secured her first win of the season with a complete-game outing, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Chaps broke the scoreless tie in the third inning when Riley Flores worked a leadoff walk, advanced on a sacrifice bunt, and ultimately scored on a fielder's choice by Kawehi Ili to put LCU up 1-0.

In the fourth inning, LCU extended its lead as Baylea Myers launched a solo home run to left center. Moments later, Yaya Kaaialii was hit by a pitch, and after a single by Kristen Boyd, a throwing error allowed Kaaialii to come around to score, giving the Lady Chaps a 3-0 advantage.

LCU tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Boyd roped a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Flores. Myers followed with an RBI single, stretching the lead to 5-0.
Cameron's lone run came in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Haley Gardella, but the Aggies struggled to generate further offense against Lamb's efficient pitching.

GAME NOTES
» Myers led the Chaparrals at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. The home run was her team-leading third of the season and 10th of her career.

» Cameron was led offensively by freshman Haley Gardella, who went 2-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.

» Stormee Reed took the loss for Cameron, allowing four earned runs on four hits across six innings while striking out six.

» Yaya Kaaialii and Kendra Levesque have reached base safely in a streak of 10 consecutive games.

» LCU's 10-game win streak is their best win streak since an 11-game win streak during the 2023 season.

» The Lady Chaps improved to 7-0 at home.
