Home, Sweet Perfect Home: Lady Chaps Close Out Undefeated Slate in Style

Lady Chaps Dominate UTPB to Finish 13-0 at Home, Extend Win Streak to 13 Games

LUBBOCK, Texas (February 15, 2025) – No. 11 Lubbock Christian University capped off a perfect home slate in dominant fashion, finishing 13-0 at the Rip Griffin Center with a commanding 82-56 victory over Texas Permian Basin in a Lone Star Conference West Division matchup. The Lady Chaps put on an offensive clinic, shooting a season-best 58.5% from the field, led by Grace Foster's 26 points and a double-double from Audrey Robertson (11 points, 10 rebounds). The Senior Day win not only secured an undefeated home record but also kept LCU unbeaten in division play (12-0) while extending their win streak to 13 games. At 18-1 in conference play, the Lady Chaps remain tied for the top spot in the Lone Star Conference.
 
The Lady Chaps (24-3, 18-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Foster, who had 26 points and two blocks. Maci Maddox added 17 points and five assists and Kennedy Chappell helped out with 13 points.
 
LCU pulled down 38 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Texas-Permian Basin's 21, led by Audrey Robertson's 10 boards. The Lubbock Christian defense held UTPB  shooters to only 37 percent from the field. The Falcons did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only five offensive rebounds and scored nine second chance points while Lubbock Christian pulled down 31 defensive rebounds.
 
UTPB was held to a 25.9% shooting percentage in the second half. Taysha Rushton led the Falcons with 23 points, with 16 tallied in the opening half of play. They also received 12 points from Khiara Flugence.
 
How It Happened
Edging UTPB with a 10-9 advantage, Lubbock Christian went on a 7-0 run with 3:29 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Foster, to increase its lead to 17-9. Foster (7) and Maddox (6) combined for 13 points in the opening quarter and LCU entered the quarter break with a 20-11 advantage.
 
UTPB fought back to tie the game at 28-28 before Lubbock Christian went on a 5-0 run starting at the 2:56 mark in the second period, highlighted by a three from MacI Maddox, to take a 33-28 lead. Despite UTPB shooting 64.3% in the quarter, LCU had nine points in the frame from Foster (she had 16 in the first half) to help provide LCU a 37-32 advantage heading into halftime. Lubbock Christian dominated in the paint, scoring 10 of its 17 points close to the basket.
UTPB's Makala Bingley opened the second half with a three-pointer, cutting LCU's lead to 37-35. However, Lubbock Christian responded with a dominant 17-1 run—including a 13-0 stretch—capped by a Maci Maddox basket to push the lead to 54-36 with 3:01 left in the third. Foster posted seven points in the period and LCU was 61.5% (8/13) from the field to enter the fourth quarter with a 58-44 edge. Lubbock Christian knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 21 total points.
 
Lubbock Christian kept widening that lead, expanding it to 62-46 before going on a 5-0 run to grow the lead to 67-46 with 6:19 to go in the contest. Six points in the quarter from Maci Maddox helped LCU coast the rest of the way for the 82-56 win. Lubbock Christian took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 14 of its 24 points in the paint to finish with a 40-20 scoring advantage in the category in the game.
 
Game Notes
» Audrey Robertson notched a double-double for the Lady Chaps with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The 10 rebounds marked a season high and the double-double was her second of her LCU career. Her first was Jan. 7, 2023 against Angelo State.

» The Lady Chaps made half of their attempts from three-point range, knocking down seven of 14 shots to go 50%. It is the fifth time LCU has shot at least 50% from three-point range this season.

» The Lady Chaps never trailed in the game, marking their eighth game this season in which they never trailed.

» Lubbock Christian had a 38-21 edge on the boards in the win. The +17 rebound margin is their greatest rebounding margin since a +18 (42-24) on Feb. 12, 2022 against Cameron.

» Grace Foster led the Lady Chaps with a game-high 26 points. It marked the 16th game this season in which Foster surpassed 20 points.

» Maci Maddox led LCU with five assists and has 414 in her career, which has her past Brittany Roberts (Hampton) and into the top-five in program history. Maddox is eight assists away from passing Allie Schulte (421, 2017-22) and moving into fourth on the program's career list.
 
» The Lady Chaps completed their regular season home slate with a 13-0 record. They last went unbeaten at home in 2022, as they went 13-0 at home in the 2021-22 season. The Lady Chaps currently have an active home win streak of 18 games, which is the third-longest active home win streak in Division II.
 
» LCU improved to 18-0 in Lubbock all-time against UTPB, as they extend their overall series lead to 31-1. They completed the regular season series sweep over UTPB. LCU is 25-1 all-time against UTPB under head coach Steve Gomez.
 
Next Up
LCU hits the road Thursday for a Lone Star Conference matchup against Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, kicking off a three-game road stretch to close out the regular season.
