RICHARDSON, Texas (February 17, 2025) - Lubbock Christian senior pitcher
Ryan Markwardt was named the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.Â
Markwardt dominated Oklahoma Christian, tossing a one-hit, complete-game shutout on Saturday as the Chaps won 9-0. The very first Eagle batter of the game was the only one to get a hit, as Markwardt faced only one over the minimum. He retired 19 straight batters to finish out the game and the Eagles hit .048 against him overall. His nine strikeouts were tied for the second-most in a game in his career.
This season, Markwardt is 2-1 with a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings of work. He has 20 strikeouts, which is the fifth-most in the LSC, against just six walks and opponents are hitting just .153 against him.Â
The Chaps are 7-5 on the season with back-to-back series wins against Sul Ross State and Oklahoma Christian. They will be on the road this weekend, taking on St. Mary's in a four-game series at Dickson Stadium.Â
